Top 41 survey sites to join in Australia

The list below is not a complete list of all the paying survey sites available in Australia. It is instead a list of only the best sites that will actually pay you, and that are worth joining, and all of them are legit and free to join.

The list is regularly updated, so bookmark this page and check for new opportunities periodically.

#1 Opinion Inn

Type
Survey site
Cash out from
$25
Paid via
PayPal

Opinion Inn is a unique survey site with some great features. For example, if you get disqualified, you’ll still receive a small compensation ($0.10).

You’ll also usually qualify for around 25% of surveys on average, which is a very good qualifying rate for a survey site, in my opinion. The surveys also pay very well compared to most other survey sites (on average $3+ per survey), and you get a $10 joining bonus.

The payout threshold is relatively high ($25). But because of the high pay per survey, you won’t have a hard time reaching it.

#2 Freecash

Type
Surveys + other tasks
Cash out from
$5first cash-out can be up to $20, by country
Paid via
PayPal · Cryptocurrency · AirTM +1 more

Freecash is one of the newer GPT sites, but you can find quite a lot of different earning opportunities in Australia here.

You can find plenty of paid surveys, paid offers, claim free points daily, participate in contests, and more.

It is one of the fastest-paying survey and GPT sites in Australia, as you can get your earnings out already when you have earned $0.50, if you want to get paid in cryptocurrency. For PayPal or gift cards, the threshold starts at $5, which is still very easy to reach. And if you join through the link below, you will get a free case that will give you a joining bonus of $0.05-$250 into your account right away after claiming it.

#3 TopSurveys

PayPal · Bank transfer · Gift cards

TopSurveys is a survey site that offers an opportunity for you to earn real money by answering surveys. You can also earn additional rewards by completing paid offers. TopSurveys is a unique survey site that has a system that matches surveys better than most other survey sites. This means there will be fewer disqualifications and therefore more earnings.

You can cash out via PayPal once you’ve earned at least $5. You also have the option to redeem gift cards. Best of all, you will receive your rewards 30 minutes after redeeming them, which is quite a fast turnaround.

It has a mobile app that works with both Android and iOS devices, and it is relatively user-friendly too.

#6 Toluna Australia

Type
Surveys + other tasks

Also, the rewards you get per survey are high, and you will also earn from community activity, so you can start earning just by engaging, even before you take a survey, which is something I have not seen on other sites.

You can join it from all countries, and you only need to earn $5 to withdraw. You can get paid in Bitcoin, PayPal cash, or Amazon gift cards.

#14 Nielsen Computer & Mobile Panel

Type
Passive appTracks your internet use
Cash out from
Depends on your devices
Paid via
Vouchers · Gift cards

Nielsen Computer & Mobile Panel is not so much a survey site, but still, a site where you can earn by giving feedback. However, it is a very passive way of giving feedback and earning compared to the other sites on the list.

Nielsen has a panel for Australia for both mobile and computers, where they gather info about the use of the internet to improve online services and products. All you have to do is sign up, download the app, and then you will anonymously share some info about internet use, which is used for statistical purposes.

It does not offer huge rewards, but you can earn around $50 per year just by having the app installed, and you can install it on several devices and earn for each device, so a great and easy way to make some extra cash passively.

#15 ySense

Type
Surveys + other tasks
Cash out from
$5 gift cards$10 PayPal
Paid via
PayPal · Amazon gift cards · Payoneer +1 more

ySense used to be called ClixSense, but has changed its name and still offers more or less the same. It is a site that gives good opportunities in most of the world. And it also has good opportunities for Australia. There are mainly two ways to earn money on ySense. By doing paid surveys or by doing Figure Eight tasks. Not all countries have very many survey opportunities on ySense, but Australia has a pretty good amount. So this is then the best way to earn on here.

Be aware that you will often have to try several surveys to find one you qualify for. It is completely normal, and luckily, you will usually know within a few seconds whether you qualify for a survey or not. So do not give up, if you click several surveys you do not qualify for (it happens on all survey sites). If you like doing Figure Eight tasks, ySense is one of these tasks, as it offers some great bonuses.

ySense offers several payout methods. You can get paid through PayPal, Payoneer, Skrill, or Amazon gift cards, which are all great options. The payout threshold starts at $5, but is $10 for PayPal.

#16 PaidViewpoint

Type
Surveys only
Cash out from
$15first cash-out; then $10, later $5
Paid via
PayPal

PaidViewpoint is a unique survey site in what it offers. It only offers paid surveys as a way to earn. But the unique aspect is that you will never be offered a survey that you do not qualify for.

Furthermore, the surveys that are available are very short and easy to answer compared to what surveys sometimes can be. So, mostly it is faster to do surveys on PaidViewpoint. You will, however, not have as many opportunities as on some other sites on this list.

PaidViewpoint is available all over the world, but it is only if you live in an English-speaking country that there will be enough opportunities to make it worth it. Australia is one of the countries where PaidViewpoint has good opportunities, so if you live there, it is a great site to sign up for this site.

Not as the only site, as it will not give you huge opportunities, but as an extra site, as it is so easy to use and has very easy and short surveys.

SpiderMetrix is not really one of my favorite sites, but it is still on this list, as it is mostly a site for Australians. It is open for other countries to join as well, but the company is based in Australia, and the most opportunities are for people living here.

You can mainly earn by doing paid surveys. There are also what are called quick surveys. The quick surveys will not make you a lot of money, but they also only take a few seconds to do. Paid surveys are the main way to earn on SpiderMetrix, but there is also a social aspect, where you can chat with other members. In general, SpiderMetrix is not the site that offers the best earning opportunities, even if you live in Australia. But it can be a nice extra site to join if you want to join as many as possible, and it is definitely a legit site.

The payout threshold is very high compared to other survey sites, and in my opinion, way too high, as you have to earn $50 before you can get paid through PayPal or Amazon gift cards. If you want to donate your earnings to charity, you can do this already when you have earned $1.

How are the opportunities for paid surveys in Australia?

Some countries just have more opportunities to take paid surveys than others, because more market research is done there and more companies pay for the information they get through surveys. In general, the best opportunities are in English-speaking countries.

If you live in Australia, you are lucky.

Australia is one of the top countries for the number of surveys you can do and the number of legit survey sites you can join.

What you can expect

Some great extra money. You need no training or investment, and it is one of the best and easiest ways to make some extra money.

What you should not expect

It will not make you rich or give you a full-time income. Remember this, so you do not get disappointed.

Many sites do not mean many good sites

Some sites are a waste of time, and some scams can end up costing you money instead of making you money. All the sites on this list are legit and free to join, and I have been paid by all of them.

How to earn the most?

Many of the sites also offer other ways to earn than paid surveys. These sites are called GPT (Get-Paid-To) sites. Using some of the other methods next to surveys is a great way to boost your earnings, but many people overlook it.

  • Playing games
  • Testing websites
  • Paid offers
  • Watching videos
  • Cashback when you shop online
  • Join several sitesThe sites have different opportunities, so the more you join, the more opportunities you get.
  • Start with 6 to 8 sitesThen see which ones you like using the most. Keep those, and try others as well.
  • Do not join all of them at once if you are newIt can be a little overwhelming, and you might not get to know the opportunities each site has.

What readers ask in the comments

This page has 73 comments since 2017, and I answered 34 of them. These are the questions that come up most, with my answers.

Why is a site I use not on the list?Asked about 8 times

My answer: I have not tested every site yet, but I write the ones readers suggest on my list of platforms to test. Some sites I leave out on purpose, for example when their support does not get back to me.

Can I join these sites from outside Australia?Asked about 5 times

My answer: Many of the sites also work in other countries. But verifying an Australian phone number or using a VPN when you do not live here is fraud. Sites will ban you, and you lose your earnings. Use the sites for your own country.

Can I make a living from paid surveys?Asked about 4 times

My answer: No. Paid surveys are not a way to make a living, but they can make you some nice extra money on the side. How much depends on the time you put in and your profile.

Do I have to verify my phone or identity to get paid?Asked about 4 times

My answer: Only very few survey sites ask for phone verification. Verifying your identity before the first payout is very normal, because sites see a lot of fraud. If you live in the country you registered from, it is not a problem.

Which sites should I join first?Asked about 3 times

My answer: Do not sign up for all of them at once. Start with 7 or 8 sites and get to know how they work. Which sites are best for you depends on your profile and what you prefer.

What if a site does not pay me?Asked about 3 times

My answer: Contact the site’s support first, so they can explain and maybe reinstate your account. I take feedback like this seriously and use it when I update the list.

Is it safe to share my profile data?Asked about 2 times

My answer: On legit sites like the ones on this list, I would not worry. They need data like your age and job to match you with surveys. If something worries you, ask their support or use other sites.

Frequently asked questions

Are paid surveys legit in Australia?

Yes, if you join the right sites. All 41 sites on this list are legit and free to join, and I have been paid by all of them.

There are also scams that end up costing you money, and sites that are a waste of time. A legit survey site never asks you to pay to join.

What is the best paid survey site in Australia?

My top 3 for Australia are Opinion Inn, Freecash and TopSurveys. Opinion Inn has well-paid surveys and pays $0.10 when you are screened out. Freecash has surveys plus paid offers. TopSurveys matches surveys better than most sites, so you get fewer disqualifications.

The best site for you also depends on the tasks you like and how you want to get paid. Use the comparison to filter by payout method.

Can you make $100 a day on surveys?

I cannot promise a daily amount. Australia has many survey opportunities, but paid surveys will not make you rich or give you a full-time income.

To earn the most, use the other ways to earn on GPT sites too, like games and paid offers, and join several sites. Around 6 to 8 is a good start.

Which survey site pays immediately?

You always have to reach the site’s minimum first. After you ask for a payout, some sites are very fast: HeyCash and Five Surveys usually pay within a few minutes, and TopSurveys and Prime Opinion within about 30 minutes.

What is Triaba?

Triaba is a survey panel with a specific panel for Australia. It is very easy to use: once you sign up, you get an email invitation for a survey once in a while, so you only log in when you want a payout.

It does not have the largest number of surveys, so it is a nice extra site. You can get paid through PayPal or gift cards from $7.

What is the biggest problem with surveys?

Not qualifying for every survey. That happens on every survey site. A few sites on this list make it easier: PaidViewpoint never offers you a survey you cannot complete, TopSurveys gives fewer disqualifications, and Opinion Inn and Opinion Edge give you a small reward when you do not qualify.

  1. Hello Mikael, I have joined valuedopinions.com, I have tried to redeem a 20-dollar gift card numerous times and all they say is that they will get back to me in 72 hours. This has happened multiple times and I’m afraid they are not legit.

    Regards,

    • Sorry to hear that. I have not heard that before but it has become worse since I first tested it. But thanks for sharing. Good to know and great for others to see as well.

      • Not only that but they want you to verify your identity with Veriff which is not legit either. No customer service, no identity verified, just a complete waste of time. Yes people need to keep away from valuedopinions.com

  2. Please also consider pureprofile.com Ive been a member for nearly 10 years and consistently earn around $100-200/yr. Each survey pays out b/n $1.5 – $45 and you often get $0.10 if you dont meet the criteria, or they have already met their quota . Not a lot, but handy to cash in the balance and get gift cards or movie tixs for things like Xmas pressies etc. You can cash out to your bank account, but they have a few conditions around this such as it takes 30 days to pay out, plus you can only withdraw $70/mth (or something like that) They also have monthly draws with prizes ranging from $50 – $1000. Highly recommend!

    Reply
    • Agreed Nerissa. I manage to withdraw $70 every two months from Pure Profile, so it acts as a regular income. Very handy when you only have the pension to rely on.

      Reply
      • $8 per week roughly. You think that is good? I am withdrawing between 150-350 per week, spending no more than around 2 hours per day online between 3 sites.

          • The main ones I use are – Prime Opinion.
            – OpinionWorld, MyOpinions, Toluna & Ipsos. I hope that helps you and others. Once you have completed your profile, provided you are honest and consistent with your survey answers, the rewards start to roll in. I get that many emails I can’t keep up with the survey offers I get. As with other sites, I still get screened out sometimes, but the rewards outweigh that slight annoyance. Let me know if I helped n how you go. Good luck! 🙂

  3. Please sir can you give me the survey site that pay 0.10$ instantly per referral and the site should be available world wide

    Reply
    • Not many sites will offer to pay you just to get people to sign up as they would lose money as people would then not send real quality traffic. And I do not know any worthwhile sites that will offer this. But if you at some point are able to prove you can send a lot of quality traffic you might be able to negotiate with some of the good sites to pay you per sign up. But for a start, you should focus on learning how to send the right people to the right platforms if you long-term want to make money with referrals.

I am looking for ways, and my son 18 i April, to make some extra cash as I have been through medical treatment which has been well responded to! I am hoping to be able to enter the job market soon. My last employer will take me back but I would find the work too physical now.

        • Glad my list helped you.

Just be aware that surveys is not something you can do for a living but for extra money on the side. If you want to make a living online, you need to go for other options. If you tell a bit more about your goals and expectations when it comes to earning online, I will be happy to suggest methods that can potentially help you.

          • Oh thank you! I have worked as a Support Worker for 7.years which was well paid. As I said they would have me back but the work is too physical now after my medical treatment. I think my son would have to wait until he is 18 to earn money online? He will be going to Uni!

I have worked in call centres and I have excellent English, written and spoken. My typing is about 40 wpm. I have a certificate 4 in Community Development. I have a neat and presentable appearance. Nor sure if I would do sales but market research or similar?

          • There are many different options, but which are the best really depends on your preferences. And also whether your goal is to build your own online business, get hired by someone else, earn some side money, or full-time income.

If you are looking for some extra money on the side, the survey sites on the list above are some of the best options.

If you are looking to get hired but from home, you can check out some great remote job options here.

If you want to build your own online business and are willing to put the time and effort required into that, you can check out my top recommended option here.

As for your son, there are some platforms that accept teens so they can earn before they turn 18. You can see a list of the best free sites for teens here.

            Hope this helps.

  5. Hey I noticed swagbucks gives more like 1-20c per ‘quiz’ and a lot of the other offers are scams for crypto or to purchase content in mobile games. This isn’t a good site, and the better ones mentioned in comments above aren’t listed.

I need to ask lol is this site just prioritising websites with decent referral codes so you can get referral link bonuses?

    Reply
    • Swagbucks has a lot of paid surveys and also many great paid offers in Australia but there are also some offers that will not be that great, so you just need to prioritize correctly. And the rest of the top sites on this list are also really great options to earn some extra money. If you disagree, feel free to share your expeirence about the ones you find the best. But be aware that which survey sites are the best can also vary from person to person dependoing on your profile and personal preferences. The list above is built manually after testing hudnreds of survey sites and have compared the diffeten opportunities and earning potentail through several years and from also taking to hundreds of users of my website to build a list that helps people as much as possible. But it cn be tricky to rate sites and there will always be people that disageree or have other expeirences but I can assure you that i put a lot of time and effort into continously testing and comparing sites, and also listen to feedback from my readers and update the list above accordingly.

  7. For your readers: stay clear of MyOpinions, they are scammers and will let you keep doing surveys until you go to claim your reward and then your account will be terminated with no reason other than you’ve violated their terms and conditions.
Google “MyOpinions reviews” and you’ll see hundreds of others reporting the same thing.
Seems like they used to be a good survey site, but are now owned by another company who clearly are just scamming people now. Wish I had of read the reviews first – don’t make the mistake I did.

    • you cannot get number verification in AU if you do not live in Australia. That is fraud and whenever you try to do things like this, use VPN, or anything like that, they companies will detect it and will ban you and you will use your earnings. So you have to stick to the sites that are actually available in your country.

If you let me know which country you live in, I will be happy to suggest some good sites there.

Then did a quick search on google and found I wasn’t the only victim, looks more like a scam.

First, I just want to let you know that I deleted the link you shared as links are, in general, not allowed in the comment section here as people would, unfortunately, take advantage of this. But I did check it out.

From what I hear from people and from what I can read in what you send, there are many that have had the same experiences as you but also many that have received payment. Did you try to contact their support so you could see if they can explain more and if they can reinstate your account so you can get your earnings? If you have not done that, you should definitely do that. And please let me know how it goes.

I do take feedback like this very seriously and but all the feedback together when I write content and update it. That is also why I encourage people to share their experiences on my website as it is always good to hear different experiences. So thank you for taking the time to let me know – and please give me an update when you have written their support and if you hear back.

I will take all this into consideration next time I update the list.

  10. Love that this is a list specifically for Australians, as most of the American sites don’t work here. Have cashed out a couple of times on Survey junkie recently, as they’ve lowered the payout to $5.

There’s one good one you’ve missed though, PureProfile. The surveys normally pay quite well and are easier than the typical surveys that take forever and only give you like 20 cents. These are more like 2-4 dollars for 15-20min. Only issue with it is that some days there might not be many surveys.

    Reply
    • Thanks for sharing your experiences, Rebecca. Yes, it is great Survey Junkie has lowered the payout threshold. I will update that information on the list asap.

And thanks for your suggestions. Promotional links are, however, not allowed here in the comment section so the link you shared has been blocked. I am sure you can understand as, unfortunately, the comment section would quickly turn into a lot of spam if that was allowed.

    • How did survey junkie pay you. I tried cashing out to PayPal and they are saying they need to verify me. • Hi Jasmin,

It is very normal for survey sites to verify your identity before paying out the first time. They have to do this as they, unfortunately, experience a lot of fraud.

When it comes to Survey Junkie, you do not have to worry about it being a scam – it is definitely legit and has been one of the legit sites for many years. And if you worry about how to get the verification code, you can try to write their support and ask if there is an alternative way.

Let me know how it goes.

          • Thanks for sharing your experiences about this. I agree that Qmee also can be a good site.

However, I have had some big issues with their support and have experienced several times that they do not get back to me at all and therefore it is not a site I can recommend as good customer service is very important, in my opinion.

    • Hey Rebecca 🙂

I completely agree with you about PureProfile. I fully expected them to be right up the top, but there is still no mention of them.

It’s a shame that Mikael didn’t include a link to PureProfile since your link *had* to be blocked.
However, just a few months after you were told that promotional links weren’t allowed, Qmee managed to get a link further down in this very thread. Go figure?

      Reply
      • @Donna: Exactly which ones are the absolute best often comes down to personal preferences and your profile. My list is to give you inspiration for legit options that are worth it in my experience and opinion. And I test a lot and take many things into consideration when ranking sites including their support, earning potential, usability, and a lot more. I share all this on my lists, and then it is up to you to decide based on that which ones fit you the best.

As for promotional links, then you will not find any promotional links in the comment section here on my website. If one should be there, it is because of a mistake. But if I allowed that, my website would be full of spam comments as people think spamming other websites with invitation links is ok. So those links will be blocked. And I have just double-checked and I do not see any promotional links to Qmee in the comment section so have no idea where you have seen this?

  11. Thanks for the great tips on which sites to consider here ‘Down under’.

I’m new at this, however before I join any of the sites, what I noticed that keeps coming up in the, “need your permission to use” cookies section is: “I allow collection, use and sharing of my profile data for the purpose of participating in market research”,

Is it necessary for me to tick that box for me to receive surveys? Seems they want to know my browsing activity as well.

Would appreciate your clarification on these requirements.

    Reply
    • If it is legit sites (as the ones I have mentioned on this list), I would personally not worry about this. If I understand you correctly, you are talking about the terms you agree to when signing up on a survey site?

They need to be able to share your profile data you will fill out after you join. This is data like your age, occupation, etc. This is necessary to be matched with surveys and it is necessary for the companies creating the surveys to know to be able to use the answers for statistics that can help them make decisions and take action on the feedback they get through the surveys.

Hope this explains it and let me know if you have other questions.

I’m a techno Ludite and am always cautious about anything on the “inter web”, so I have a simple question and would appreciate a simple answer…
If I signed up for your 25 recommended Australian survey sites, approximately what sort of dollar figure could I earn over a 12 month period?
I do understand that this is only some “extra” income, but my time is limited and I need to know is the effort worth the return?

    Reply
    • Hi Allan,

First of all, it is very good that you are cautious about any type of make money online option. There are a lot of scams out there.

I am afraid I cannot give you a super simple and straight answer to your question as it depends on so many factors. But if you have limited time, I would not suggest you to sign up for all 25 sites. That would be too overwhelming and too confusing if you have never joined sites like this before. I would suggest you start with maybe 7-8 of them and get to know how it works before you sign up for more.

In Australia, there are some pretty good options for taking paid surveys and also using some of the other methods some of the sites offer.

But as you mention yourself, it will not make you a full-time income but it can make you some nice extra money on the side. How much really depends on the time you put in. But in Australia, it should be realistic to earn maybe a couple of hundred extra dollars per month. For some people, it might be more and for some less. But again it is difficult to give an exact answer for as it depends on the time you put in and your demographic profile as it easier for some than for others to find surveys they qualify for.

If it is worth your effort really depends on your goals and perspective. But good that you are aware that it is not a quick way to get rich. However, the sites on this list is a real way to earn some extra cash as long as you do it with the right expectations.

Know this was not a super simple answer but it is the best answer I can give:-) Hope it helps and just let me know if you have more questions.

    • Hi Srini,

There are actually only VERY few survey sites that ask for phone verification before paying out. But if you live in the country you registered from it is really not a problem even if they do. It takes less than a minute and if you only use the legit sites they will never use your number for anything else.

On most survey sites you, however, have to at least confirm your email before you get a payout, but that is something you do right after you join anyway.

In my experience the verification processes are really easy on most sites, so it is nothing to worry about. Most of the survey sites are aware that they need to make it as easy as possible but sometimes they also for their own security reasons and to avoid fraud have to ask for some kind of verification.

But as mentioned, it is really only a couple of survey sites where I have had to verify my phone before paying out. If this is the case, it is written in the full reviews of the sites you can access through the links on the list above.

      Hope this helps.

You can spend quite a lot of time doing surveys, if you choose the sites with many opportunities, and it can then make some nice extra cash. But as I also mention in the article, whether you are from Australia or not, paid surveys are not a way to make a living. It can make some nice extra money, but you should not plan on doing it as a job.

      Hope this clarifies it.
