19 Best Data Entry Sites to Earn Extra Cash (Free & Legit)

I tested every site on this list

Data entry sites are legit, but most pay for small, simple tasks, so expect extra cash rather than a full income, unless you land an actual data entry job. Below I show what you do on each site, when it pays and how, so you can pick the ones that fit you.

My top 3 data entry sites

  1. #1 Flexjobs

19 best data entry sites

Keep in mind that this is not a complete list of data entry sites available. Instead, this will be a list of what I think are data entry websites to earn money that are worth considering. In other words, these are the sites you can earn a decent amount from.

I will keep updating this list, so make sure to bookmark this page and check back from time to time for new opportunities.

#1 Flexjobs

What you do
Job board with checked remote jobs, full- and part-time
When it pays
Depends on the employer
Paid via
Bank transfer · PayPal

If you are looking for data entry jobs that pay well, and where you potentially can make a living by doing data entry tasks, Flexjobs is one of the absolute best options.

It is a job board where you can find thousands of different remote work opportunities including full-time and part-time data entry jobs. It is different from other job boards as they check all jobs manually before posting them to ensure quality and legitimacy, and you get access to several tools to help you land a great job.

It does have a small fee to register, but the quality of the jobs you find here and the tools to help you find work are definitely worth it if you are looking for a way to make a living from remote jobs.

#2 TimeBucks

What you do
Small social media tasks and other GPT tasks; no real data entry
When it pays
Automatic, Monday to Friday, from $3
Paid via
AirTM · Wise · PayPal +5 more

TimeBucks is a Get-Paid-To (GPT) site. It does not have real data entry tasks, and its captcha tasks are gone. What it does have are small micro jobs, like simple social media tasks, plus many other ways to earn, so you will not run out of things to do.

It is free to join and available globally, so you can join regardless of where you live. It also offers several payment options, as shown above, and it has a relatively low payout threshold ($3).

#3 Telus Digital

What you do
Data and translation tasks, based on your test scores
When it pays
Once a month, no threshold
Paid via
Direct bank transfer

Telus Digital is a micro-task site that provides localization and AI training data services, among other things. In some ways, it is a lot like Appen because it also offers tasks (like data entry tasks).

The data entry tasks you can find here will vary depending on how you score in their placement evaluation tests. From time to time, there will be translation jobs offered for the languages you know. It varies significantly depending on your location and skill level. Therefore, it’s essential to achieve a high score on their evaluation tests.

They pay you once a month through direct bank transfer, so you don’t have to worry about reaching a threshold to get paid. You will receive payment for whatever you earn during the month.

#4 Humanatic

What you do
Review and sort phone calls
When it pays
From $10, weekly pay periods
Paid via
PayPal

Humanatic is a site that provides companies detailed analysis of the phone calls they receive. It doesn’t sound much like a data entry job, but reviewing phone calls will just involve you having to categorize the type of call you reviewed according to their guidelines.

So, it is really a lot like a data entry job with a lot less typing involved. It only offers PayPal as its payment method, so if you don’t have a PayPal account, I suggest you sign up for one before you become a member of this site. You can request payment once you’ve earned $10.

Overall, the simplicity of its earning opportunity is what makes it a good option. You just have to be very accurate when reviewing phone calls.

#5 Scribie

What you do
Transcribe audio and video · countries with PayPal
When it pays
Not clear yet
Paid via
PayPal

Scribie is a site that offers audio/video transcription services. So, you can earn by simply converting audio/video files to text.

Since they use PayPal for their payment processing, you can only register as a member if you live in a country supported by PayPal. The payment rate is around $5 to $25 per audio hour (i.e., $0.5 to $2 for a 6-minute file).

If you are good at transcribing, this is definitely one of the best options you can find on the internet. You just need to make sure you have a PayPal account before you join because that is the only payment option they offer.

#6 Fiverr

When it pays
From $10

Fiverr is not only a platform where you can find a lot of data entry jobs, but also a freelance platform with thousands of different jobs.

It offers many different data entry jobs, so there will be a lot of options to choose from. You just need to be aware that to get jobs, you need to sign up as a seller and create one or several job posts. After you have done this, it will also be possible to contact people that post jobs as well as you can also be contacted when people find your job post.

It takes a bit of time to set up properly and build up a good reputation, but if you take the time to do this, you can find A LOT of work on Fiverr.

Essentially, ClickWorker is a micro-task site that offers data entry tasks. Most of the data entry tasks will ask you to categorize the data from websites.

It has a relatively low payout threshold of $10, and once you reach the threshold, you can choose to either get paid via PayPal, Transferwise, or SEPA.

The great thing about ClickWorker is, if there are no data entry tasks you can do, you can still earn by answering paid surveys. So, you will have different options to earn from.

#8 CrowdGen

What you do
Data and AI training tasks, mostly on a computer
When it pays
Per finished project
Paid via
PayPal · Payoneer · Direct bank transfer +2 more

CrowdGen (formerly known as Appen) is a company that specializes in collecting and labeling images, text, speech, audio, video, and other data used to build and continuously improve the world’s most innovative artificial intelligence systems. So, naturally, the company will need data entry workers to do the work. To earn, you can work on tasks that will involve some form of data entry.

You’ll get paid via PayPal or Payoneer. You can also get paid via direct bank transfer, Airtm, or an e-wallet.

It has a mobile app you can download, but most of the tasks will require the use of a computer, so there’s not much you can do with the app, in my opinion. It is available globally, so you will be able to sign up regardless of where you live.

#9 Hive Micro

What you do
Simple micro jobs · Android and iPhone app
When it pays
Every Tuesday, automatically
Paid via
PayPal · Bitcoin

Hive Micro is a micro-job site that will allow you to earn money by taking on simple jobs. Many of the tasks can also be described as data entry tasks. Axion will pay you every two weeks via direct bank transfer, but there will be a 28-day waiting period to receive your first payment as per the rules stated by the site. Once you’ve made your first cashout, you’ll receive your pay every two weeks, provided, of course, you’ve earned something within those 2 weeks.

It is only available in the US, so if you live somewhere else, this is not for you.

#11 GoTranscript

What you do
Transcribe audio, paid per minute
When it pays
Every Friday, no threshold
Paid via
PayPal · Payoneer

GoTranscript is a website that offers transcription services to its clients. To earn from it, you need to become one of their transcribers, and technically, transcribing is also a form of data entry job. You will get paid per audio minute you transcribe, and the compensation will depend on your rating as a transcriber.

It pays via PayPal or Payoneer every Friday. You don’t need to earn a certain amount to receive your earnings. It is available worldwide, so signing up won’t be an issue. Just take note that the application process involves several steps.

#12 Fancy Hands

What you do
Virtual assistant tasks · US only
When it pays
Every other Tuesday, no threshold
Paid via

Fancy Hands is a website that provides virtual assistant services to its clients. This means that if you want to earn from it, you have to become one of their virtual assistants. As a virtual assistant, you can work on data entry jobs to earn money.

Fancy Hands will process payments every other Tuesday automatically. So, whatever you’ve earned during that period will be deposited into your bank account via Dwolla. You don’t have to reach a threshold to withdraw your earnings. Any amount you’ve earned within two weeks will be deposited into your bank account.

It is only available for people who live in the US.

Remotasks is a website that will ask you to do tasks, and in exchange, you will get paid once you complete them. You can find data entry tasks once you become a member of this site. You can also earn from its referral program.

You’ll get paid via PayPal or AirTm weekly (as long as you’ve completed tasks within that week, of course). It is available worldwide, so you should be able to sign up as a member without any problem.

#14 Datavio

What you do
Micro jobs incl. data entry
When it pays
From $20
Paid via
PayPal · Payoneer

Datavio.ai (previously Teemwork.ai) is a micro job site that will pay you for completing tasks. It’s a bit different from many other micro jobs available online, but the idea is to work on various tasks, including data entry tasks, to earn money.

It pays via PayPal or Payoneer, but you have to earn at least $20 to withdraw your earnings. Just be aware that the site’s payment system is a bit more complicated than that of the other sites on this list. It is available globally, but the registration process is also a bit more complicated than usual.

#15 TaskVerse

What you do
Tasks that help improve AI
When it pays
Weekly; 5 to 10 days to reach PayPal
Paid via
PayPal

TaskVerse is a Get-Paid-To (GPT) site that will allow you to earn by completing tasks. Normally, on other GPT sites, you will be asked to answer surveys, play games, watch videos, and sign up for websites or mobile apps. But with TaskVerse, it’s different. The tasks are a bit more unique, but usually, these tasks are used for improving AI (artificial intelligence) performance. This is where the data entry tasks come in.

Every time you complete a task, you will receive a certain amount, and you get paid via PayPal. It usually takes between 5 to 10 days for the payment to show up in your PayPal account. TaskVerse is available more or less worldwide.

#16 Time Etc

What you do
Virtual assistant jobs · US and UK only
When it pays
Per hours worked, no threshold
Paid via
PayPal

Time Etc is a website that offers paid work for virtual assistants. Once you become a virtual assistant for this site, you will be matched with potential clients for jobs that you can earn from. There are plenty of jobs that will ask you to do data entry tasks. The jobs that will be offered to you will be in accordance with the skills you indicated when you applied for a virtual assistant position.

Every time you complete a job, you will earn a certain amount depending on how many hours you’ve worked, and you will be paid via PayPal. You don’t need to reach a threshold to withdraw your earnings. Time Etc is only available in the US and UK.

#17 2Captcha.com

What you do
Solve captchas · Android app
When it pays
From $0.50 to $1, by payout method
Paid via
WebMoney · Payza · Perfect Money +4 more

As the name suggests, 2Captcha.com is a captcha-solving site. To earn rewards, you simply have to solve captchas.

You will get paid once you solve 1,000 captchas. The site offers several payment options like WebMoney, Payza, Perfect Money, and Payeer. You can also choose to convert your earnings to Bitcoin. The threshold you need to reach to request payment will depend on the payment option you choose.

But usually, you can withdraw your earnings once you’ve earned $1, which is quite low. It’s a fairly straightforward site to earn from, which, in my opinion, is its main selling point.

#18 Byron Assistant

What you do
Virtual assistant jobs, experience needed
When it pays
2nd and 4th week of the month
Paid via
Bank transfer

Byron Assistant is a website that specializes in providing virtual assistant services to its clients. There will be data-entry jobs available if you get hired as a virtual assistant. That being said, there will also be other types of jobs available.

You’ll get paid every 2nd and 4th week of the month via direct bank transfer, so you don’t need to earn a specific amount to receive your earnings. As long as you’ve earned something within that pay period, you’ll receive your earnings.

Just be aware that this site is only for people who have previous experience working as a virtual assistant, so it’s not an ideal option for someone just starting.

#19 Postwork

What you do
AI training work with data entry tasks
When it pays
Not clear yet
Paid via
Bank transfer via Stripe

Postwork is a platform that gives you the chance to earn by contributing to the training of artificial intelligence models. Most of the earning opportunities involved in training AI will usually involve doing some sort of data entry task. So, technically speaking, you can earn by doing data entry tasks.

It’s not quite clear how it pays, but from what I can tell, it pays via Stripe (bank transfer). It is available more or less worldwide.

Are data entry sites genuine and really a way to earn?

All the sites on this list are legit. But that does not mean all data entry sites are. There are still scams out there you need to stay away from.

Signs of a legit site

It is very clear about how you can earn and how you can withdraw your earnings. Legit sites are always upfront with what they offer.

Signs of a scam

Only vague details about how you earn, or pay that is ten times higher than other sites offer for the same tasks. Then they are likely never going to pay you.

A big warning sign

A data entry site that charges you to earn. Many sites that do this are just going to scam you.

Is it a real way to earn? Yes.

Data entry sites can be a good source of extra cash, as long as you set your expectations right.

How much can you earn from data entry jobs from home?

There are different types of data entry jobs you can do from home. Usually they involve typing, which is the main skill you need.

  • TranscriptionYou type everything you hear in a video or audio file.
  • Captcha solvingYou earn by solving captchas.
  • AI training tasksYou identify items in images, do annotations and similar tasks.
  • Collecting or sorting dataAnything where you collect or sort data in one way or another.

Data entry jobs are not always the most rewarding. The simpler the job, the less you earn from it. But this depends a lot on the type of job you find.

Small tasks pay little

Sites with small tasks here and there usually do not pay much. Captcha solving is one of the worst-paid data entry jobs, so it takes a lot of time to earn a significant amount.

Actual jobs can pay a living

If you are good at transcribing, or you get an actual data entry position, you can build it up to a good full-time income.

Set the right expectations

In most cases, what you earn will not compare to a full-time job. But you can earn a decent amount if you join several sites.

How the 19 sites pay youNumber of sites that offer each payout method. Many sites offer more than one.
  • PayPal13 of 19
  • Bank transfer9 of 19

Frequently asked questions

Are online data entry jobs legitimate?

Many are, and all the sites on this list are legit. But not all data entry sites are. Legit sites are clear about how you earn and how you withdraw your earnings.

Stay away from sites that only give vague details, pay ten times more than other sites for the same tasks, or charge you money to earn.

Can a beginner do data entry?

Yes. In most cases you do not need any special technical skills. Typing is the main skill. Most of the sites on this list give some training before you get access to paid tasks.

What is the best website to find data entry jobs?

For an actual job you can make a living from, Flexjobs is one of the best options: every remote job is checked by hand before it is posted. It has a small fee.

For small tasks next to your day, TimeBucks, ClickWorker and Hive Micro are free to join.

How to identify fake data entry jobs?

Watch for three warning signs: vague details about how you earn, pay that is ten times higher than other sites offer for the same tasks, and a site that charges you to earn.

What are some data entry apps that pay?

Hive Micro has an app called Hive Work for Android and iOS. ClickWorker has an app for both too, and 2Captcha.com has one for Android. CrowdGen has an app, but most of its tasks need a computer.

Do online data entry jobs really pay?

Yes, but simple tasks pay little. Captcha solving is one of the worst-paid data entry jobs. Transcribing, or an actual full-time data entry position, can pay much better.

In most cases it will not compare to a full-time job, but you can earn a decent amount if you join several sites.

  1. Mikael, I am an experienced legal transcriber looking for extra work!!! I have 20 years experience and have always worked two jobs, but one outsourced to overseas and I am down to one job! I never realized the impact this would have on me financially and mentally, as I used to type 24/7! Do you have any suggestions as to some good transcribing companies or data entry companies looking all the time for experienced legal and general transcribers?

    • How you can best do that depends a lot on your country. Some of the options above can help you do that but what the best options are, as mentioned, depends mainly on your country.

  2. Great info to those new to it all.
I plan to live in Vietnam and am quite creative. I’m wondering if I should try breaking into freelance writing for companies or play it safe. To play it safe I want to find something I can start at the bottom and become good enough at to make at least 10$/Hr. but In long run be good enough to make 20$/Hr or more. But my typing speed is only 30wrm. In Vietnam the cost of living is so low, I think choosing 1 thing that I can get good enough at that it will eventually guarantee me full time and increased pay per hour. I want to be in something that has good potential for me in the long run as i grow in skills. I’d really rather be using my creative writing or general writing skills though if possible.

If you love writing, I suggest you get good at using AI to become even better. That is the future, in my opinion, and the ones with the best opportunities will be the ones who master AI and know how they can use it to become better.

  4. Hi Mikael,

    Thanks for your informations.
I am looking for a job online, I do a lot of researches on the internet.
But according to Reddit most of the options seems to be scam.
Or they say in the beginning there was good options but nowadays it’s rubbish.
I also use stuff like scam advisor or scam detector to check their legitimacy.
I was interested by Clickworker and Appen, but what does it worth in 2025?

It seems internet still have things to offer, but it goes fast to be obsolete.
After all my readings and researches I am back to the starting point…

    • First of all, be careful only doing research on Reddit. A lot of people there do not know much and there is a lot of spam and poor info there.

As for ClickWorker, yes it still works. You can read my full ClickWorker review here.

Appen is now called Crowdgen. You can read my Crowdgen review here.

There are many opportunities online. What the best options are really depends what you are looking for, what are your income goals, how much time are you willing to invest, which country you live in, etc. So if you can share more info about that, I can give some suggestions.

      • Hi Mike. If I potentially want to make at least 500 dollars per month and try to do this in 3 months time as a deadline what would you suggest? I want it to be as sustainable as possible. I live in Malaysia btw. If possible I also want to limit investment in terms of money to start as much as I could. Thank you.

        Reply
        • In that case I suggest you try to find a remote job, a data entry job, or become of freelancer if you have the skills to do that.

No matter what, it will take time and effort and reaching that level of income will not happen fast. If you want an even bigger earning potential, I suggest affiliate marketing to starting your own online business. Just be aware that that takes even more time and effort to see results but the potential is then also a lot bigger and can give great freedom.

I would say that if you are willing to work full-time online, then you should maybe consider starting an actual online business. There are some great options for this if you are willing to put in the effort and will be happy to suggest some options. Then in the meantime, you can use free methods to earn some extra on the side but in the long run starting an online business has a lot bigger potential than trying to do data entry jobs full-time.

Which country do you live in? Then I can suggest some other free methods where you can easily earn a bit extra.

  18. Scribie does seem promising, unfortunately, you’ll need a PC which I do not have.

Do you know any other legit sites that do transcribe? Preferably one that allows android devices.

    • Transcribing only makes sense if you have a computer. If you do not have that, I would suggest you find other ways to earn.
