I tested PlaybookUX to see if its paid website tests are worth your time. It is legit and pays a good amount per test, but you do not control how many tests you get. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend if you want to earn more regularly.

The short answer

PlaybookUX is legit. You really get paid to test websites, and it pays a good amount per test: $10 for an unmoderated test and up to $60 for a moderated one, straight to PayPal.

But you do not control how many tests you get, and that depends a lot on your country. Sign-up takes a bit of time, and you need a computer. It is a decent secondary site, not a full-time income.

What I like
  • Offers a convenient payment method
  • Pays a good amount per test
  • No payout threshold
  • Payments are processed automatically
What I don’t like
  • Limited earning opportunities
  • The sign-up process takes a bit of time to finish
  • Computer only, with a headset and microphone
  • The screener surveys are not paid

Is PlaybookUX legit and safe?

Yes, PlaybookUX is legit, because you really get paid to test websites. But that does not automatically make it worth your time. Here is what you should know.

  • You do not control how many tests you get

Tests depend on your profile and especially your country. Based on my experience, the US, Canada and major Western European countries get the most.

  • Answer screeners truthfully

Each test starts with an unpaid screener survey. If a company reports that you did not answer it truthfully, you are not paid for the study.

  • You need a computer and a quiet room

The screen recorder only works on a laptop or desktop, and you need a headset and microphone. A noisy background can get your submission rejected.

  • You can fail the practice test

You have to follow the instructions of the practice test down to the letter. If you fail it, you are not accepted as a tester.

My takeIn my opinion, PlaybookUX is a decent user testing site to earn from. You just have to set your expectations in terms of earning potential properly. It pays a good amount per test, based on my testing, but it is not something you would consider as a full-time income. Just be prepared to set aside some time for testing, especially if you take on the moderated tests.

How you earn on PlaybookUX

There are 4 types of tests. Moderated and unmoderated tests make up most of the money. Tap one to read more.

Moderated tests$30 to $60
PlaybookUX pay rates by test type

You join a Zoom call for a one-on-one session with a researcher, who asks you several questions. These tests take around 30 to 90 minutes, so make sure your schedule is clear.

They pay the most: $30 for a 30-minute test and $60 for a 60-minute test.

Unmoderated tests$10

You record your screen and audio while you answer questions. No researcher is present. These tests usually take only 10 to 15 minutes.

You speak your thoughts aloud, so do them in a quiet room. You need screen recording software, a headset and a microphone.

Card sort tests$2

You sort cards in a way that makes sense to you. I never got to do one when I tested the site. They are not very common, but quite easy.

Tree sort tests$2

Researchers ask you where you would find certain content on a website. Like card sorts, they are not very common, but quite easy.

How much can you make?

It depends on how many tests you can complete and which types they are. You do not control how many tests you get, and based on my experience, that depends on your country.

Per test, you earn a minimum of $2. Unmoderated tests pay $10, and moderated tests pay $30 or $60. The rates are quite decent, so the earning potential is relatively good, as long as you get invited to tests. If you want more sites like this, see the best user testing sites.

Payout method, minimum and speed

MethodMinimumSpeed
PayPalNoneWithin 8 days after the test, once the researcher approves it

You do not have to earn a specific amount, and the payment is processed automatically. That makes the payment system quite straightforward. If you want more sites with this method, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.
