User Interviews Review – Worth It? (Full Guided Tour)

User Interviews Rating

If you are good at speaking your mind, User Interviews can be a decent site to earn from mainly because it pays well. However, you have to set your expectations properly so you won’t be disappointed.

I tested User Interviews to see if its paid research studies are worth your time. It is legit and pays well per study, but you will not get accepted for most studies you apply for. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend if you want to earn at your own pace.

Partially Tested Re-tested Oct 2026

Legit and pays well, but you will not get accepted often

Around $10 to $50 per research study, with no payout threshold. Most studies are for US residents.

The short answer

User Interviews is legit. It is a market research site that pays you for taking part in paid research studies, and you really get paid if you complete them. It pays relatively well: typically around $10 to $50 per study.

But there is no guarantee you will be accepted for the studies you apply for, and you can get rejected a lot of times. Most studies are for US residents. If you want to earn extra cash at your own pace, other sites are a better fit.

What I like
  • Pays relatively well, typically around $10 to $50 per study
  • No payout threshold: you are paid per study you complete
  • Pays through PayPal, direct bank transfer or gift cards
  • A decent number of research studies available
  • Mobile-friendly website to apply for studies
What I don’t like
  • Limited earning opportunities
  • No guarantee you will be accepted for a study
  • Most studies are for US residents
  • You need a computer with a webcam and microphone
  • You must share your mobile number to register

My experience with User Interviews

I signed up, went through the member dashboard and the paid research studies, and looked at how you apply and get paid. This is what I looked at, and what I did not test.

Is User Interviews legit and safe?

Yes, User Interviews is legit, because you really get paid when you complete a research study. But that does not automatically make it worth your time. Here is what you should know.

  • You will not get accepted often

You have to apply for every study, and the researcher decides if your profile matches what they are looking for. You have no control over whether you are accepted, and you can get rejected a lot of times.

  • Most studies are for US residents

User Interviews is a US-based company, and most of its researchers are based in the US. You can register from anywhere, but if you live outside the US, you might not get accepted often.

  • You must share your mobile number

User Interviews sends a verification code to the mobile number you provide. There is no way around this requirement.

  • Poor recordings can cost you the payment

Most studies ask you to record a video. Record in a bright and quiet room. If you record in a noisy place, your work can be rejected, and you will not be paid.

  • Cash comes from the researcher

When a study pays through PayPal or direct bank transfer, the researcher pays you, not User Interviews. Gift cards come from User Interviews. A payment can take up to 10 business days.

My takeIn my opinion, if you are good at speaking your mind, User Interviews can be a decent site to earn from, mainly because it pays well. However, you have to set your expectations properly so you won’t be disappointed. You will need to be patient with it because you can get rejected a lot of times.

How you earn on User Interviews

There is only one way to earn: paid research studies that you apply for.

Paid research studiesAround $10 to $50 each
User Interviews paid research studies

There are four study types: 1-on-1 interviews, focus groups, unmoderated tasks and multi-day studies. They come in three formats: in person, over the phone and online. The online format is the most common.

Log in to the member dashboard and you immediately see all available studies. Click one to see the reward and the requirements. If you are confident you can complete it, hit the “Apply” button. The researcher reviews your application, and if your profile matches what they are looking for, you are accepted.

Follow all the instructions. If the study asks for a video, articulate your points and record in a bright and quiet room. After you submit everything, the researcher reviews your work, and if it is up to par, you receive the promised payment.

There is a decent number of studies, but you will not be accepted for every one, so do not expect to earn from every study on the dashboard. Many studies have a limit on participants and work on a first-come, first-served basis, so it helps to apply quickly, also from your phone.

How much can you make?

Typically, you can earn around $10 to $50 per paid research study you complete. That is not surprising, because most studies take a bit of effort.

However, you will not always get accepted, and you have no control over it. The best thing you can do is apply for every study you feel you can do, and submit all the requirements before the deadline.

So even though it pays relatively well, the earning potential is still not that great, because there is no guarantee you can take part in the studies you see.

Payout methods and speed

MethodPaid bySpeed
PayPalThe researcherAfter the researcher approves your work
Direct bank transferThe researcherCan take up to 10 business days
Amazon gift cardUser InterviewsUsually within a day or two after approval
Reward Link gift cardUser InterviewsUsually within a day or two after approval

You are paid for every study you complete, and there is no threshold to reach before you can withdraw. Which reward you get depends on the study.

Reward Link gift cards include Target, Whole Foods, Starbucks, Uber, Southwest Airlines, StubHub, DoorDash and Airbnb.

I like that it pays through PayPal, one of the most convenient payment options around. For more sites with this method, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.

Who can join, and what you need

Technically, you can register regardless of where you live. But User Interviews is a US-based company, and most of its researchers look for participants in the US. So if you live outside the US, you might not get accepted often.

Register with the form, or with your LinkedIn or Facebook account. Then provide your mobile number and type in the verification code you receive. After that, complete your profile, and make sure all the information is accurate.

You need a computer with a webcam and microphone, because most studies ask you to record a video. There is no app, but the website is mobile-friendly, which is useful to apply for studies quickly.

  1. I was contacted by them to do an interview, we agreed a date and time then I filled out the consent form and agreed to their terms and conditions.
The day before the interview, I was told that the client had rescheduled so I agreed to go ahead with the revised date.
No joining link was sent so I contacted them and was told they never booked me and I would not get the cancellation fee of 25% for doing the initial stage of the task.
I have worked with several other survey sites over several years and this is the first one to break the agreement and refuse to pay,

  2. Hi you mentioned that you should go into this with measured expectations. Ok I’ll buy that.

But I have tried and tried, plus I do have decent skills work experience and life experience, and I have never ever been excepted to participate in any project, be it $10,00 in value, 0r $300.00 in value. The subjects were of various types and times.
I have answered many many questions, as they put it, screening questions, which in truth are mini surveys. So, the million dollar question is, how on earth can I refer User Interviews to anyone, having never been excepted for an unterview. Months and months trying, nothing nothing nothing !!!.. So please, define legit for me, …..I’m lost and disappointed. I’m of course interested, but disappointed.
