I looked into Hotjar, formerly PingPong, to see if its paid interviews are worth your time. It is legit and pays well per session, but invites are rare, and you may wait weeks or months. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend if you want to earn more reliably.
Legit and pays well per interview, but invites are rare
Paid video interviews with companies: €15 for 30 minutes, €30 for 60 minutes. You may wait weeks or months for an invite.

The short answer
Hotjar is legit, because you really get paid to share your opinion. It used to be called PingPong. You earn by doing one-on-one video interviews with Hotjar’s clients, and it pays a decent amount per session.
But there is no guarantee you will ever receive an invite. It depends on whether you fit what the clients are looking for, and it can take weeks or even months before you get a chance to earn. So it is not something you can reliably earn from.
- No payout threshold
- Pays a decent amount per interview session
- Open more or less worldwide
- FAQ and a digital assistant for support
- Limited earning opportunities
- Invites can take weeks or months
- You need a computer, webcam and microphone
- Low referral reward

Is Hotjar legit and safe?
Yes, Hotjar is legit, because you get paid to share your opinion. But that doesn’t necessarily mean it is worth your time. Here is what you should know.
- Invites are rare
There is no guarantee you will ever receive an invite. It depends on whether you fit the demographic the clients are looking for. It can take weeks or even months.
- You have to pass a screening
When you accept an invite, you first answer screening questions so Hotjar and the client can decide if you are the right person for the project.
- You need a computer, camera and microphone
The interviews are video calls with the client. You need a computer, a webcam, a microphone and a quiet room. On your phone, you can only check for invites.
- Payments take up to 7 business days
Hotjar pays through Tremendous, no longer through PayPal or Wise as PingPong did. It can take up to 7 business days for the money to reach your Tremendous account.
My takeIn my opinion, Hotjar is not a bad site to earn from. It pays well for every interview session it conducts. The only problem is that it can take quite a long time before you will ever get the chance to earn. So, it’s not something you can reliably earn from, and you need to be very patient.
How you earn on Hotjar
There are 2 ways to earn. Interviews are the main one. Tap one to read more.
Interviews€15–€30 per session
When it was still PingPong, the interviews often involved testing websites. Now you give your opinion about products and services in a video call with the client.
Wait for an invite on your member dashboard; you also get an email. The invite has all the details and the available times. Pick a time, answer the screening questions, and log in to the dashboard for the video call when it is time. Most sessions last 30 minutes or longer. You are paid after the session.
Referral program€5 per referral
Share your referral link. You get €5 when someone signs up through it and completes one interview. Because invites take long, do not expect to earn from referrals right away. The reward is quite low compared to similar referral programs.

How much can you make?
It mostly depends on how many interview sessions you can complete. You will not be invited to a lot of them, so do not expect to earn a lot.
The pay per session is decent: €15 for a 30-minute session, €30 for a 60-minute session, and up to €200 in some special cases. Because there are so few chances to earn, the earning potential is still a bit low. But if you complete a session, you earn a decent amount.
How you get paid
| Method | Minimum | Speed |
|---|---|---|
| Tremendous | No payout threshold | Up to 7 business days after the session |
You are paid after each completed interview. PingPong used to pay through PayPal or Wise. Hotjar now pays through Tremendous, which is still a convenient payment method, in my opinion. For more sites with a convenient payout, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.
