Is Validately a Scam or Legit? (An Inside Look)

Validately Rating

Validately is a legit user testing platform that pays you for providing feedback. If you don’t mind recording your voice, then this site can be a decent site to join since they pay relatively well. But there are many better options, in my opinion.

Validately has closed

Validately was bought by UserTesting, so all the opportunities it offered can now be accessed from the UserTesting platform. You cannot join or earn on Validately itself now. I keep my review below as a record. See my UserTesting review, and the other sites I would pick instead further down.

Validately (also called UserZoom Go) paid you to test websites and apps while you recorded your screen and voice. It was bought by UserTesting and no longer runs on its own. I joined it myself before that. Below is what I found, and which sites I would pick instead.

Partially Tested Last tested

Validately was bought by UserTesting, so you can no longer earn on it. When it was running, it paid relatively well per test, but tests were hard to get.

The short answer

Validately has closed. UserTesting bought it, and its opportunities are now on the UserTesting platform.

When it was running, it was legit and paid you via PayPal after every test, with no threshold. But the sign-up was stringent, tests filled up very quickly, and it was not as good as it used to be. Many other user testing platforms are just better now.

What I like
  • Paid relatively well
  • No payout threshold. You were paid after every test.
  • Paid via PayPal
What I don’t like
  • Validately has closed
  • The sign-up took a lot of work, with no guarantee you got in
  • It took a lot of time and effort to earn
  • It was difficult to get a spot in the tests

My experience with Validately

I joined Validately as a tester, went through the sign-up and the screener test, and followed how it changed after it became UserZoom Go. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Was Validately legit and safe?

Validately has closed, so you can no longer join or earn on it. When it was running, it was legit, because it did pay you for testing sites and giving feedback. These were the catches.

  • It has closed

UserTesting bought Validately, and its opportunities moved to the UserTesting platform.

  • Tests filled up fast

Most tests were first come, first served, and only a limited number of testers was needed. Very often you could not get in, even if you clicked the invitation link very quickly.

  • A strict sign-up

You had to pass a screener test, and it took several days to hear back. There was no guarantee you became a tester.

  • Slow payments

The client had 7 days to approve or reject a test, and an approved test could take up to another 7 days to be paid. A rejected test was not paid and could not be taken again.

My takeValidately has closed, so it is no longer an option. Near the end, it was not as good as it used to be, and many other user testing platforms are just better now. See the alternatives below.

How you earned on Validately

There was one way to earn: testing websites and apps. Tap it to read more.

Testing websites and appsAround $5 to $25 per test
Validately Chrome extension

Companies used Validately to find out how user-friendly their websites were. It was very similar to UserTesting.

You got an email when there was a test for you, and you clicked the link to start. Most tests were first come, first served, so you had to be quick.

You recorded your screen and spoke your thoughts aloud while you tested, so you needed a microphone and a quiet room. You used to need a Chrome extension for this. Later, the invitation told you how to record your screen, and mobile tests used the Validately app.

Once Validately approved your test, you got paid.

How much could you make?

Validately often paid around $5 to $25 per test, depending on the length, and some tests paid more. In my opinion, that was quite good, considering the work involved.

But it depended on how many tests you could take. When I first joined, there were quite a lot. After the name and platform change, there were fewer, you did not always qualify, and very often you could not get in at all.

How Validately paid

Unlike most survey and GPT sites, Validately had no payout threshold. You were paid after every test you completed.

MethodMinimumNotes
PayPalNoneWithin 7 business days of completing the test. You gave your PayPal address when you registered.

Your work had to be verified first: the client had 7 days to approve or reject a test. For more sites that pay this way, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.

Who could join Validately?

Validately was available globally from the age of 18. There was no formal language requirement, but you had to speak good English, and you needed a PayPal account.

After some profile questions, you took a screener test: a short test of a site where you spoke your feedback aloud. It took several days to hear back, and there was no guarantee you became a tester.

Or that account never gets a chance?

How many days in general it takes for them to reply back?

  3. Hey Mikael! I just joined Validately. Took the screener as well.
& Then it showed a “Thank you” with the next tab showing a blank screen with the URL “panel.validately.com registered”

So now, have I become a member OR I have to wait for a few days for confirmation?

    Reply
    • Think you have been registered but sounds a bit strange. The best way to test is to try to log in to the platform. If you cannot, you probably have to contact their support.
