I took a closer look at Ubertesters to see how its paid app and website testing works, and how it compares with other user testing sites. It is legit and pays automatically each month, but there are not many projects. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend instead.
Legit testing work, but too few projects
Paid per project at an hourly rate, with automatic monthly payouts and no threshold. Projects are rare.

The short answer
Ubertesters is legit. You really get paid to test websites and apps, and it pays you automatically every month, with no payout threshold.
But there aren’t a lot of projects, so earning regularly from it is not possible, in my opinion. The registration process is long, with a profile, device setup and an online test. It is not a bad user testing site, but it is not a good one either.
- Offers payment via PayPal
- Processes payments automatically
- No payout threshold
- Your hourly rate can go up as you perform well
- Limited earning opportunities
- Long registration process
- The testing app only works on Android
- It can take some time before you get a project

Is Ubertesters legit and safe?
Yes, Ubertesters is legit, because you really get paid to test websites and apps. But that does not automatically make it worth your time. Here is what you should know.
- There are not many projects
You do not control how many projects you get. Based on my experience, there aren’t a lot, and it can take some time before Ubertesters assigns one to you. You have to be very patient.
- A long registration process
You fill in a form, confirm your email, complete your profile, connect your devices and take an online test. Only after you pass can you start earning.
- You need two devices
Ubertesters only accepts you if you have a computer and a mobile device for testing. The testing app only works on Android, so iOS users can only test websites.
- Follow the instructions exactly
The testing tool records your screen while you test. You are paid for every bug or issue you find, but only if you followed the project instructions down to the letter.
My takeUbertesters is not a bad user testing site. However, it’s not a good one either. It pales in comparison to other user testing sites, in my opinion, in terms of earning potential, because there aren’t a lot of opportunities to earn.
Ubertesters has few projects. The top sites in your country give you more ways to earn.

Testing projectsHourly rate plus bugs found
Once you are a tester, Ubertesters assigns projects to you from time to time. You get an email with the project details, and you decide if you accept it. Click “Join Now” to open the project page, with all the bugs, crashes, issues, feedback and test cases for the project.
You test with the QA management tool, which works on computers and mobile devices. It records your screen, so Ubertesters can see and replicate the bugs you find. When you are done, you submit your report.
Ubertesters takes up to a couple of days to review your work. If you followed the instructions down to the letter, you get paid for every bug or issue you find.
How much can you make?
Your pay depends on your experience, your testing location and the complexity of the project. You start with an hourly rate based on your online test, and it can go up if you perform well.
But the main factor is how many projects you get, and you do not control that. Based on my experience, there aren’t a lot of projects, so the earning potential of Ubertesters is quite low. If you are intent on earning as a tester, see the user testing sites that pay.
Payout methods and timing
| Method | Minimum | When |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal | None | Usually at the end of the month |
| Amazon gift cards | None | Usually at the end of the month |
| Upwork | None | Usually at the end of the month |
What you earn on a project goes to your Ubertesters balance. As long as you earned something that month, it is sent to the payment method you chose. You do not have to request it.
Ubertesters does not say when in the month it pays. In my experience, it is usually at the end of the month, so you receive the pay in the first week of the following month.
I like that it offers PayPal. If you want more sites with this method, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.
