Game Tester Review – Worth Your Time? (Not for Everyone)

Game Tester Rating

Game Tester is an online rewards site that will reward you for testing unreleased games. It can be a fun way to earn rewards but in terms of earning potential, there are simply better choices out there.

I tested Game Tester, which rewards you for testing games that are not released yet. It is a fun way to earn, but the rewards are low and the payout threshold is $25. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend instead.

The short answer

Game Tester is an online rewards site that pays you to test games that have not been released yet. It can be a fun way to earn, and it is available globally.

But you will not earn a lot from it. Some tests take a long time and pay only a little gold and XP, and the payout threshold is a fairly high $25. If you want to earn a decent amount regularly, there are plenty of better choices.

Is Game Tester legit and worth it?

Game Tester rewards you for testing games, but it is not an efficient way to earn. Here is what you should know before you start.

  • Low rewards for the time

Some game tests take a long time to complete, and you only get a low number of gold and XP points. This also matches feedback from other testers.

  • A $25 payout threshold

The payout options are good, but you need $25 before you can cash out. With low rewards, that takes quite some time.

  • A confusing payment system

You get gold and XP for each test. There is not much information about what the gold unlocks in the shop, or what benefits higher XP levels give, other than access to higher-paying tests.

  • The app has limited use

Most of the time, the games you test need a computer or laptop. Only some tests can be done on your phone.

My takeIf you are purely looking for a site to earn a few extra bucks, Game Tester is not the ideal choice, because you will not earn a lot from it. The only upside is that it offers a fun way to earn. But that can only take you so far, in my opinion. If you want to earn a decent amount regularly, I suggest you check out the top GPT sites instead.

How you earn on Game Tester

There are 2 ways to earn. Game testing is the main one. Tap one to read more.

Game testingGold and XP
Examples of games you can test on Game Tester

Complete your gamer profile first. Game Tester uses it to decide which games to send your way. Then open the Tests tab in the dashboard to see the games you can test. You can test a maximum of 3 games per day.

Each test comes with instructions and in-game requirements. You usually download and install the game on your computer or phone. You get a notification when you have met the requirements, which is not always the case on similar sites.

Then close the game and click the Complete Test button on the dashboard to receive the reward.

Referral program25 XP and 5 GTGold
Game Tester referral program

Share your referral link, on social media or by email. For every person who registers through it, you get 25 XP points and 5 GTGold. The person who joins also gets 25 XP points.

That is not worth a lot. It does not give much of an incentive to invite people, so it is a rather weak referral program, in my opinion.

How much can you make?

It depends on how many invitations to test games you receive. Complete your gamer profile to get the most invitations possible.

From what I observed while exploring the platform, the tests do not pay you that well. Some take a long time and give only a low number of gold and XP points. So it takes quite some time to build up a decent amount.

All in all, Game Tester is not a very efficient way to earn extra income, but it can be fun, since you get to play games.

Payout methods and minimum

MethodsPayout threshold
Prepaid Visa, bank transfer, gift cards$25

The payment system used to be more complicated, with fewer payout options, when I first tested it. Game Tester has improved this, which is great to see. The payout options are great now. The problem is the fairly high payout threshold of $25.

The gold you earn can also be used to buy items in the Game Tester shop and to unlock other features of the site.
