I checked out Test IO to see if testing websites and apps there is worth your time. It is legit and pays automatically every month, but you need skill to earn well. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend if you want to earn sooner.
Legit user testing, but only worth it if you are good at finding bugs
No payout threshold and automatic monthly payments. Few test invites, and a wait before you can start.

The short answer
Test IO is legit. It is a user testing site that really pays you for testing websites and apps. There is no payout threshold, and payments are processed automatically every month.
But how much you earn depends on how many bugs and errors you can find. You first have to complete two training courses, and it can take up to a week before you get test invites. If you are new to testing, do not expect to earn a lot.
- No payout threshold
- Processes payments automatically
- Available globally
- Direct bank transfer for EU residents
- Limited earning opportunities
- Earning opportunity requires a lot of skill and experience
- There’s a significant wait time before you can start earning

Is Test IO legit and safe?
Yes, Test IO is legit, because you really get paid for testing websites and apps. But that does not make it a good fit for everyone. Here is what you should know before you sign up.
- You need skill to earn well
How much you earn depends on how many bugs and errors you find. It takes a bit of experience and a lot of skill to become a good tester, and you need both to maximize your earnings.
- Few test invites
You have no control over how often you get invited. Fill out your profile, so Test IO has the information it needs to qualify you for tests.
- A wait before you can earn
You first complete two training courses. Test IO says it can take up to a week before you receive your first invites. You cannot start earning immediately.
- Your work is reviewed first
After a test, you submit your deliverables, like a bug report or a testing video. You only get paid if your work meets Test IO’s requirements.
My takeIf you are not good at finding bugs or errors, or you do not have any experience in user testing, you will not be able to maximize your earnings, in my opinion. I am not saying it is impossible if you are just learning the ropes. But temper your expectations a bit if you are still a newbie. When you gain experience and sharpen your skills, you can expect to earn a decent amount from it.
How you earn on Test IO
There are 2 ways to earn. Testing is the main one. Tap one to read more.
Testing opportunitiesAround €5 to €10 per test
Before you get test invites, you complete two training courses: one on bug reproduction and one on exploratory testing. After that, you see the tests available to you in the dashboard, and you get an email for every new opportunity.
Exploratory testing is the simplest: you get free rein, within limits on the areas and bugs to look for. In usability testing, you follow a guide and report improvements or unexpected behavior. Some special usability tests ask you to speak your feedback, answer a survey and write a report.
Test case testing gives you test cases of three to thirty steps. You usually get a base payout, a payout for every completed step, and a fixed payout for each bug you submit. From what I observed, this is the highest-paying type.
When you accept a test, you see the reward and the instructions. After you submit your deliverables, Test IO reviews your work, and the pay is credited to your account.
Referral program€5 per referral
Share your invite link. You get €5 when the person you invited has submitted at least 5 accepted bugs. The reward is decent, but the requirement is quite steep, so it can take a long time.
How much can you make?
It depends on how often you get invited to tests and how good you are at finding bugs. You do not control the first one, so fill out your profile completely.
Typically, you can earn around €5 to €10 per test you manage to complete. Test case tests with a lot of scenarios can pay more than €10 if you find a lot of bugs.
Overall, the earning potential is pretty decent, because it pays a decent amount. But it is not for everyone: you will not earn a lot if you are not good at detecting bugs and finding errors.
How you get paid
| Method | Who can use it | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal | EU residents | Paid automatically |
| Direct bank transfer | EU residents | Paid straight to your bank account |
| Payoneer, Wise or PingPong | Non-EU residents | Extra steps to set up. See Test IO’s payment guide. |
You earn in Euros. There is no threshold, and you do not have to request a payment. Everything you earn in a month is paid on the 11th of the next month, or the day after if the 11th is a holiday.
Overall, the payment system is easy to understand, and I like that payments are automatic. For more sites with this method, see the top sites that pay via direct bank transfer.

Who checked Test IO for this review
If you have any comments, questions, or experiences with Test IO, I would love to hear from you in a comment below.
My advice don’t waste your time in this, to do the courses, they won’t teach you much.
And when you are done and qualified for projects, it’s hard to get one, even in the second you receive the notification you will have 50/50 changes of approval.
Bugs are not easy to find, and you will spend some time to find something.
Over 80% of those will be rejected, this is not my score, I have checked and analyzed everyones bugs.
You will earn up to 10$ for bug if approved and critical, very rarely there is 1 in the while test. Most bug are paid 1-2$ if any.
User stories and reproductions are also rejected sometime, and if not you will make like 20cents.
The instructions are long, and it takes half an hour to read them.
So you will spend hours to maybe make 5 or 10$. If you are lucky.
I noticed also that 95% of bugs are submited by new joiners, in the last days or a week.
So if you think of joining, do know that testIo is a scam, they pay as low as possible and reject as many possible to keep the tester coming and abuse the good will of those who want to help and earn.
They do no deserve your time, electricity and devices.
If you work, test or hire this company you are part of a big theft and fraud.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
