LifeCoin has closed
LifeCoin is no longer running, so you cannot join or earn on it now. I keep my review below as a record. The sites and apps I would pick instead are further down.
LifeCoin was a step counter app that gave you LifeCoins for walking, which you could swap for gadgets, gift cards or PayPal cash. It is no longer running. I tested it myself before that. Below is what I found, and which apps I would pick instead.
LifeCoin has closed
LifeCoin is no longer running, so you can no longer earn on it. When it was, it was legit, but it paid very little, and PayPal cash started at $100.

The short answer
LifeCoin has closed. You can no longer join or earn there.
When it was running, it was legit, because it really rewarded you for walking. But it took more than a thousand steps to earn 1 LifeCoin, and the PayPal threshold was $100, so it took a very long time to withdraw your earnings. In the end, it was only available for iOS.
- Offered a passive way of earning
- Offered payment via PayPal
- LifeCoin has closed
- Limited ways to earn
- Low rewards
- A high payout threshold for PayPal
- Only available for iOS in the end
My experience with LifeCoin
I installed LifeCoin and walked with it to see how fast I earned. I also looked at the referral program, the rewards and the support options, and kept checking the app downloads for years. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Was LifeCoin legit and safe?
LifeCoin has closed, so you can no longer join or earn on it. When it was running, it was legit, because it really rewarded you for walking. These were the catches.
- It has closed
LifeCoin is no longer running, so you cannot join or earn there now.
- A $100 PayPal threshold
Cash through PayPal started at $100, which took more than 10,000 LifeCoins. Gadgets needed even more: an iPhone X cost 35,000 LifeCoins.
- Very slow earning
It took more than a thousand steps to earn 1 LifeCoin, and only GPS-confirmed steps outside counted.
- Rewards could be out of stock
Rewards were first come, first served. Even with enough LifeCoins, you sometimes had to wait or choose a different reward.
- A broken Android link for years
The Android download link on its website did not work for more than 2 years. In my opinion, it was not a good sign that the team left it like that.
My takeLifeCoin has closed, so it is no longer an option. When it was running, it was fine as a step tracker that gave you a little something back, but not as a way to earn extra cash. See the alternatives below.
How you earned on LifeCoin
There were two ways to earn. Tap each one to read more.
Walking1 LifeCoin per 1,000+ steps
You enabled your phone’s GPS, took your phone with you and earned LifeCoins for the steps you took.
LifeCoin only counted GPS-confirmed steps, so you had to walk outside. A treadmill or shaking your phone did not count, and the app could tell walking from riding in a car.
During my testing, it took more than a thousand steps to earn 1 LifeCoin. The GPS also used more battery than normal, so I made sure my phone was fully charged before I went for a walk.
Referral program5 LifeCoins
You shared your invite link. When someone installed the app through it and finished registering, you got 5 LifeCoins.
The reward was small, but the condition was easy: on many other apps, your referral has to do more than sign up.

How much could you make?
It depended on how often you used the app to track your steps. At more than a thousand steps per LifeCoin, the app did not pay well.
On the plus side, it was passive: walking is part of your daily routine, and there was no daily limit on steps. So you would get to a reward sooner or later, just not one with a significant value in a short time.
How LifeCoin paid
LifeCoins were the app’s currency. You used them to redeem rewards or to convert them to cash.
| Reward | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal cash | $100 | More than 10,000 LifeCoins |
| Gift cards | From 2,500 LifeCoins | Some only in certain countries |
| Electronic devices | 35,000 LifeCoins for an iPhone X | Also Apple AirPods and more |
All rewards were first come, first served. If the reward you wanted was not available, you had to wait for it or choose another one.

Who could join LifeCoin?
LifeCoin was available globally from the age of 18. You installed the app and registered with your mobile number, and LifeCoin sent you a code by SMS to finish the registration.
It was a mobile-only app. In the end, it was only available for iOS: the Android download link on its website did not work, and the app did not show up on Google Play.
What 5 readers told me
This review has 10 comments since October 2021: 5 from readers and 5 replies from me. These are the things readers asked about.
A reader could not find the app on Google Play, and the link on LifeCoin’s own website did not work.
Readers asked which phone number to give when registering, and how many steps it took to reach $100.
Two readers thanked me for the review.
“I have searched lov and on Googleplay both on my mobile and tablet and can not find the app. The link from there own homepage does not work.”
Mikael: I do not link to platforms I do not recommend. … If you cannot find it by searching, it is likely because it is not available in your country.

Hey thank so much for your review. Could you put a link for the on your review? I have searched lov and on Googleplay both on my mobile and tablet and can not find the app. The link from there own homepage does not work.
