I tested the WinWalk app to see if it is worth walking for. It is a legit pedometer app with rewards, but the rewards are low and only come as gift cards. Below is how you earn, what it takes to redeem, and which apps I recommend if you want to earn more.
Legit and useful as a pedometer, but a weak way to earn
You earn coins for your steps, capped at 100 coins a day. Gift cards from 16,000 coins ($10). No cash.

The short answer
WinWalk is a legit app. It is a pedometer that rewards you with coins for your steps, a bit like Sweatcoin. You can also earn from video ads, surveys and referrals.
But you can earn a maximum of 100 coins a day from walking, and a $10 gift card costs 16,000 coins. There are no cash rewards. If your main goal is to earn, you will be disappointed.
- A simple way to earn: just walk
- The app is very user-friendly
- Battery-friendly, because it does not use GPS
- A wide variety of gift cards
- On Android and iOS
- A daily cap of 100 coins from walking
- No cash rewards, only gift cards
- Your earnings are tied to one device
- Video ads pay very little
- The referral reward is one-time only
My experience with WinWalk
I installed WinWalk, walked with it and tried its other ways to earn. I tested it again after the app added more ways to earn. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

An inside look at WinWalk
I made a video that gives you an inside look and shows exactly how you can earn from WinWalk. It is not payment proof. The app has changed since I made the video, so the details below are the most current.
WinWalk at a glance
| What it is | A pedometer app that rewards you with coins for your steps, similar to Sweatcoin |
|---|---|
| Cost to join | Free |
| Ways to earn | Walking, video ads and surveys in the Earn Coins section, referrals |
| Walking reward | 1 coin per 100 steps, up to 100 coins a day |
| Referral reward | 300 coins, one time, once your referral collects 300 coins |
| Rewards | Gift cards only, from a wide variety of brands. No cash and no PayPal. |
| Minimum to redeem | 16,000 coins for a $10 gift card |
| Account | No registration. Your earnings are tied to the device you install the app on. |

| Support | FAQ page, and a contact link in the app that opens your email |
Is WinWalk legit and safe?
Yes, WinWalk is legit. It does what it claims: it rewards you for staying fit and healthy. But there are limits you need to know before you install it.
- Walking pays little, and there is a daily cap
You earn 1 coin per 100 steps, and a maximum of 100 coins a day from walking. To get the maximum, you have to walk at least 10,000 steps a day.
- No cash rewards
You can only redeem gift cards. WinWalk does not offer PayPal or other cash rewards.
- Your earnings are tied to one device
There is no registration, so you cannot switch devices and keep your earnings. If you uninstall the app, you lose all your earnings. Install it on the phone you take with you when you walk.
- Not every ad pays
The Earn Coins section also shows regular ads. You do not get paid to click those, which can be a bit confusing.
- Steps may not count
If the app does not count your steps properly, set it to ignore battery optimization. That is what I did.
My takeIf your goal is to find an app that can help with your fitness goals, WinWalk can be a viable option, because its pedometer is quite useful. But if your main goal is to earn, you will be disappointed. It has a low earning potential, even though it now has more ways to earn, and it only offers gift cards.
WinWalk is a good pedometer but a weak way to earn. These apps and sites pay more for your time.
See the best alternativesHow you earn on WinWalk
There are 3 ways to earn. Walking is the main one. Tap one to read more.
Walking1 coin per 100 steps
WinWalk counts your steps as long as the app runs in the background. You earn 1 coin for every 100 steps you take, up to 100 coins a day. So to earn the maximum, you have to walk at least 10,000 steps a day.
WinWalk does not use your phone’s GPS. It relies on your phone’s sensors, so it is more battery-friendly than other pedometers.
Earn Coins: video ads and surveysLow
WinWalk used to have a few missions. It has improved since I first tested it, and there are more ways to earn now. You can, for example, watch a video ad or answer a survey.
In my experience, the video ads pay very little, and the surveys pay less than the top survey apps. You also see regular ads in this section. You do not get paid to click those.
Referral program300 coins, one time
Share your invite link. When someone installs the app through it, they become your referral. Once they collect 300 coins, by walking or other tasks, you get a one-time reward of 300 coins.
The reward is not much, and you only get it once per referral. I prefer apps that pay a commission every time your referral earns.

How much can you make?
It mostly depends on how many steps you take every day. The other ways to earn are a small extra. The bulk of your coins comes from walking.
But walking has a hard cap of 100 coins a day, and a $10 gift card costs 16,000 coins. Walking alone, even at the daily maximum, it takes 160 days to get there. That is not a very good time-to-money ratio, in my opinion.
If you see the rewards as a bonus for exercising, you will appreciate them. If your whole point is to earn, you had better find other apps.
How you redeem your coins
| Reward | Coins needed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gift cards | 16,000 coins ($10) | A wide variety of brands |
Gift cards are the only type of reward. WinWalk does not offer PayPal. If you want to earn cash, see the top sites that pay via PayPal instead.
WinWalk alternatives I have tested
| Site | Best for | Min. cashout | My rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sweatcoin | Coins for walking | No fixed threshold | 3.5 / 5 |
| WalkTask | Coins for steps, games and daily tasks | 3,000 coins ($5) to PayPal | 2.7 / 5 |
| Prime Opinion | Surveys only, fast payouts | $5 or $10, by country | 4.6 / 5 |
| Pawns | Surveys, games and passive earning, low payout | $5 | 4.4 / 5 |
