Is the CashWalk App Legit or a Scam? (Details + Rating)

CashWalk Rating

If you are looking for an app to earn extra cash from, this isn’t the best option. But if you are just looking for a motivational tool to help you stay fit and healthy, then CashWalk can be a decent choice.

I signed up for CashWalk and tested its step tracker and games to see if walking really pays. It is legit, but the rewards are low and you only get gift cards. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend if you want to earn more.

Personally Tested Re-tested Oct 2026

Legit, but a fitness motivator, not a way to earn

Coins for your steps, capped at 100 a day. Gift cards from $5, no cash. Android and iOS.

Good for you ifYou walk a lot anyway and want a small gift card now and then as motivation.
Skip it ifYou want cash or PayPal, or you want to earn more than a few dollars a month.

The short answer

CashWalk is legit. It is a step tracker that rewards you with coins for walking, and you can redeem them for gift cards from $5. It even counts your steps on a treadmill, without GPS.

But the rewards are low and capped at 100 coins a day, so a $5 gift card takes weeks. There is no cash or PayPal anymore, only gift cards, and you watch a video ad every time you collect your coins. Use it as motivation to move, not to earn.

What I like
  • An easy way to earn while you walk
  • Tracks steps without GPS, even on a treadmill
  • Gift cards from $5 (1,500 coins)
  • Android and iOS app
What I don’t like
  • Low rewards, capped at 100 coins a day
  • Gift cards only, no PayPal or cash
  • A video ad every time you collect your coins
  • Coins expire after a year
  • Readers report gift cards they could not redeem

My experience with CashWalk

Is CashWalk legit and safe?

Yes, CashWalk is legit. Readers have been paid in gift cards. But it is not a real way to earn. Here is what you should know.

  • Some readers could not redeem their coins

In 2023, readers told me the app refused their gift card, said they needed more coins earned by walking, or paused their account, with no reply from support. Other readers in the same period were paid in Amazon and other gift cards.

  • Coins from walking count most

I have heard from several members that when you reach the threshold, CashWalk can ask for a certain number of coins earned by walking. So the scratch cards and other tasks alone are not enough.

  • Low rewards, capped every day

You earn 1 coin per 100 steps and at most 100 coins a day. It takes a couple of weeks to reach a $5 gift card.

  • A video ad every time you collect

You have to watch a video ad before you can collect your coins. It makes the app a bit spammy.

  • Coins expire after a year

Redeem a gift card once you reach the threshold, so you do not lose coins.

My takeIf you are looking for an app to earn extra cash from, this isn’t the best app to do it. But if you are just looking for a motivational tool to help you stay fit and healthy, this can be a decent choice. The rewards you can get from using this app can serve as motivation. That’s the true value this app offers.

How you earn on CashWalk

There are 3 ways to earn. Walking is the main one. Tap one to read more.

Walking1 coin per 100 steps
Tracking steps on CashWalk

CashWalk counts your steps with your phone’s sensors. It does not need GPS, so it uses less battery, and it also counts steps on a treadmill. Your step count shows on your lock screen.

You earn 1 coin for every 100 steps, up to 100 coins a day. Open the app and press collect to get your coins. You watch a video ad first.

Scratch-a-card gameLuck, up to 10,000 coins
Scratch-a-card game on CashWalk

You get two free scratch cards a day. After that, you can watch a video ad for another card, until there are no more ads. There is no guarantee you win anything, but it costs you nothing except the time for the ads.

Referral programSmall reward

Share your invite link. When someone installs the app through it and earns a certain number of coins, you get a small reward. CashWalk gives little information about the exact amount.

How much can you make?

It depends on how much you walk, but the daily cap of 100 coins limits everyone. It takes a couple of weeks to reach a $5 gift card.

So the earning potential is low. The real value of CashWalk is that it motivates you to exercise and stay active.

Payout method and minimum

MethodMinimum
Gift cards: Walmart, eBay, Sephora and more$5 (1,500 coins)

CashWalk used to offer PayPal, but now you can only redeem gift cards. A $5 gift card used to cost 2,500 coins and now costs 1,500. Your coins expire a year after you earn them. If you prefer cash, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.

  1. i’ve been using the app for a day now and have earned up to 400 coins but i don’t know whether this app actually gives you the gift cards

  2. I have this app. I have almost 4000 credits but I cannot redeem any cards. It says I have to earn 500 credits first before I can redeem. Yet I have almost 4000 and only need 3000 for the Walmart card. Still it tells me I can’t do it. I give up on the fake stuff like this that only seems to work for a small group of people.

  3. I’m enjoying this app . It inspires me to Fettuccine more exercise. I can earn up to 200 coins per day . So far I have not had issue retrieving my gift cards . I buy them as soon as allow , and then I screen shot the barcode so it doesn’t dissappear on me . It’s not lots but it certainly helps.

  4. The app awards you points when you use the scratch offs, watch their adds, and play their games. It also awards you points by walking. However it does not differentiate between the different types of points you accrue.

When you try to purchase a gift card, it tells you that you “must have 1500 points OBTAINED BY WALKING “.

So it denies your request to redeem your points for a gift card and you have NO WAY of knowing how many of your points came from actually “walking “.

And what in the world do you do with the points that not accumulated from walking??

    Very disappointed.

    • Thanks for sharing your experiences. The usability of the app is definitely not great, as I explain in the review above. That they then add this extra requirement when you try to redeem just shows it is definitely not worth it, in my opinion.

  5. Unfortunately they increased the needed points for the giftcards. but finally the ration coins/euro is still good enough to use it.

  6. From my perspective I find it to be a scam. I installed it and used it very actively, so after a month a had around 150€ to cash in…and all i got were several error messages. The latest suggested me to contact the support, which is simply impossible. if done through the feed nobody gets back to you and all options to contact them through the app all ended in error messages, i tried via gmail, outlook, yahoo, web.de…you name it. and if you try to look them up in the internet you will only find one emailadress…and of course mails sent there are returned instantly. I may be an unfortunate case but if you rely on them helping you, you are on your own. So I wasted alot of time to get nothing out of it, besides an experience

I’ve bn trying to cash in £10 tesco gift card now for about a month. I’ve contacted them on their email, Facebook and messenger and hd no reply as yet. I think it’s a scam. I’m going to uninstall it.

  8. Thanks for taking the time to write this. Overall cashwalk has been a positive enough experience that i’ve kept it installed nearly 2 years now. I always go for the $25 amazon gift cards and have enough of them now to get something like a PS5 or a drone.

If I may, I’d just like to point out some errors I hope you can fix for accuracy. It’s not a 10 coin limit, it’s a 100 coin limit. Walking 10,000 steps + 3 Daily Lucky Box Ads + All Scratch Off Game Turns comes to about 150 coins daily if you don’t win any prizes or participate in the coin giveaway challenges on social media.

I can say honestly I always get to 10,000 coins ($25) sooner than I expected. The key is to treat it like a “set it and forget it” type of thing. You just collect your coins and do your quick box claims and scratch offs before bed, and then forget about it again. The routine becomes automatic and mindless pretty quick so you won’t feel it.

Let a year or so go by then take a real look at what you’ve earned. You can now get yourself something really nice. Or just stock up on food and supplies with gift cards and use the extra money from your paychecks to go on a trip. If you have a spouse/partner who uses the app then all that is doubled, not to mention the coin bonus you get everytime you invite a friend. On top of that, it motivates you to get exercise by making your 10,000 steps everyday and you can post your total steps for the say in the public feed.

In conclusion, I don’t see a reason not to use Cashwalk unless something better exists. Thank you.

  9. Been paid a couple if Amazon vouchers by these guys, so will vouch for them as legit. I think things have changed since the review – it’s now up to 100 coins a day, and 10,000 steps, so you can get a £5/$5 voucher every 3.5(ish) weeks)

  10. There have been multiple times I didn’t recieve any coins for the day. When you contact support about all they ask for is a screen shot of your lock screen and they do nothing about it. They also take too long to respond. They’ve never reimbursed me for any coins I’ve missed due to their app messing up.

  11. I dont know about other phones but this app forces to have their screen displayed over other apps. So on my google phone, it is pretty much the home screen. The worst part it always illuminates on and I have to constantly push the power button to turn it off. Even in the middle of the night.

Oh, and you have to have the phone in hand when walking if you have a smartwatch linked to your phone. Doesn’t matter, has to be the phone that is moving and tracking the walking.

So for me, a $5 gift card once every two months is not worth trying to carry it in the gym or around the office where you get plenty of steps. So I deleted it…

  12. While redeeming the reward and verifying your account do you need the sim card of your mobile number inside the device.

  13. I am interested, but my favorite form of exercise is pedaling a bike or tricycle. In fact, that is my main form of transportation. Will the pedaling register the same as walking?
