Freeplay Review: Legit? (An In-Depth & Honest Look)

Freeplay Rating

Freeplay is not an app I would really recommend you use because it has very low earning potential. It also doesn’t help that it is not user-friendly. You should check out the link below instead for great alternatives.

Freeplay is a Get-Paid-To app that rewards you for playing games, completing offers and answering surveys. I tested it to see if it is worth your time. It is legit, but the rewards are low and the app is not user-friendly. Below is what I found, and which apps I recommend instead.

Legit, but low rewards and a confusing app

Games, offers and surveys in a mobile app. The rewards are below average, and the app does not show its payout options or threshold.

The short answer

Freeplay is legit, because you can really earn rewards from the opportunities it offers. It is a Get-Paid-To (GPT) app where you play games, complete paid offers and answer surveys for points.

But most of its earning opportunities pay below-average rewards, so the time-to-money ratio is quite low. The payout section does not show the payout options or the threshold until you have earned enough points, and the app is not user-friendly. It is not an app I would recommend.

What I like
  • Available more or less worldwide
  • The app works on both Android and iOS devices
What I don’t like
  • Low rewards
  • The app is not user-friendly
  • No information about the payout options or threshold
  • You must give your mobile number to sign up
  • Doesn’t provide good support

My experience with Freeplay

I installed the Freeplay app and went through its games, paid offers and surveys. This is what I looked at, and what I did not test.

Freeplay pays below-average rewards. The top sites in your country pay a lot more for your time.

Is Freeplay legit and safe?

Yes, Freeplay is legit, because you can really earn rewards from it. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you should install it. Here is what you should know first.

  • Low rewards

Most of its earning opportunities offer low rewards compared to the great GPT sites and apps I have tested. It takes a long time before you can earn enough points to redeem a significant amount.

  • You don’t know how you get paid

The payout section does not show which rewards you can redeem or how many points you need until you have earned enough. I never got to the point where I could see the payout options.

  • Some game tasks ask for in-game purchases

These tasks offer the highest rewards, but not all of them are profitable. Some are worth spending money on, but they are quite rare. Weigh the reward carefully before you pay.

  • Your mobile number comes first

The registration asks for your mobile number before any login details. Making it the first requirement to sign up is a bit of a deal-breaker for me.

  • Hard to reach support

The app has no Help or FAQ section and no way to contact support. I had to check the Google Play page to find the support email.

My takeFreeplay is not an app I would recommend you use, because it has very low earning potential. It also doesn’t help that it is not user-friendly. You are better off investing your time in sites and apps with good earning potential.

How you earn on Freeplay

There are 3 ways to earn. The sections have confusing names, so I list what each one really is. Tap one to read more.

Playing gamesHighest rewards, below average
Playing games on Freeplay

Click “More Ways to Earn” to see all the games you can play. Pick a game and install it. Always open the game from the Freeplay app, or Freeplay can’t track your progress and award you the proper rewards.

Each game has a set of tasks, usually reaching a milestone such as a level. Sometimes a task asks you to make in-game purchases. These tasks offer the highest rewards, but you must weigh whether the reward is profitable, because not all of them are.

You don’t have to complete all the tasks of a game. You can move on to a different game when the remaining tasks are not worth your time.

Paid offersFew offers
Paid offers on Freeplay

Click “Deal of the Day” to see the paid offers. They come from an offerwall that Freeplay has partnered with, and most ask you to play mobile games or install other apps.

Follow each offer’s instructions to the letter, or you might not earn the reward. There aren’t a lot of paid offers compared to other GPT sites and apps, so your earnings here are limited.

Paid surveysBelow average
Paid surveys on Freeplay

When I tested the app, the surveys were in the section labeled “Shopping Habits Survey”. Click a survey and go through the qualifying process. If you don’t qualify, move on to the next one.

Once you complete a survey, you receive the reward promised. But most surveys also offer below-average rewards.

How much can you make?

It mostly depends on how much time you are willing to invest. But most of its earning opportunities offer low rewards compared to the great GPT sites and apps I have tested, so the time-to-money ratio is quite low.

It takes a long time before you can earn enough points to redeem a significant amount. This is the biggest reason why I never even bothered to reach the payout threshold. It simply isn’t worth the time, in my opinion.

If you want to earn with your phone, see the best reward apps that actually pay.

How do you get paid?

Here’s the biggest issue I found with Freeplay. You earn points, and you use them to redeem rewards. But the payout section doesn’t show what rewards you can redeem until you have earned enough points, and there is no information about the payout threshold either.

Normally, other GPT sites and apps show all the payout options and the threshold right away. This is bad design, in my opinion. I never got to the point where I could see the payout options.

If you prefer sites and apps that tell you up front how you can withdraw your earnings, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.

Devices, joining and support

Freeplay is a mobile-only platform. It has a website, but it only talks about the app. The app works on both Android and iOS, so compatibility won’t be an issue. But the sections for the earning opportunities are confusing: you won’t know what you have to do to earn unless you click them.

Freeplay doesn’t say which countries it is available in, but from what I can see, it is available more or less worldwide. Install the app, and when you open it for the first time, it asks you to register with your mobile number first. After signing up, you can log in and start earning.

The app has no Help or FAQ section and no way to contact support. On its Google Play page, you can find the support email: support@ellbeeapplications.com.
