I tested the WeWard app to see if walking really pays. It is legit, but the rewards are very low, so it takes a long time to earn. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend if you want to earn more.
Legit, but a motivator to walk, not a way to earn
Wards for your steps, capped at 25 a day from walking. Cash via PayPal, bank transfer or Venmo (US only). Android and iOS, in 29 countries.

The short answer
WeWard is legit. It is a mobile app that rewards your steps with Wards, and you can turn them into cash via PayPal, direct bank transfer or Venmo (US only).
But the rewards are very low. Walking gives you at most 25 Wards a day, so it takes a long time to reach a reward. If your goal is to earn extra cash, you will likely be disappointed. If you want an app that motivates you to move, it can be a decent option.
- A passive way to earn while you walk
- Convenient payout methods, including direct bank transfer
- The app is user-friendly
- Android and iOS app
- Low rewards
- Walking is capped at 25 Wards a day
- You have to claim your steps every day, or you lose them
- Only available in certain countries
My experience with WeWard
I tested WeWard myself: I connected a step counter, converted my steps and went through the other ways to earn and the payout options. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

I made a video that gives you an inside look and shows exactly how you can earn from WeWard. My review does not show a payout.

Is WeWard legit and safe?
Yes, WeWard is legit: you can really earn from it. But that does not make it worth using to earn extra cash. Here is what you should know.
- Very low rewards
You earn 1 Ward per 1,500 steps, and at most 25 Wards a day from walking. The other ways to earn also pay little, so it takes a long time to reach a reward.
- Claim your steps every day
You have to press “Convert my steps” yourself. If you forget, you lose that day’s reward, because the step counter resets when the day ends. A daily reminder on your phone helps.
- One reader’s account was closed
One reader reports that their account was closed as soon as they redeemed their points. I have not had issues with WeWard myself, and I have heard from many users who have not had issues with it.
- Only in certain countries
WeWard says it is available in 29 countries, but it does not say which. Search for it in your app store to check.
My takeIf your goal is to earn extra cash, you will be disappointed with WeWard, because the rewards are very low. But if you want an app that motivates you to be more physically active, it can be a decent option. See the rewards as a bonus.
How you earn on WeWard
There are 5 ways to earn. Walking is the main one. Tap one to read more.
Walking1 Ward per 1,500 steps
Let the app track your location and movement with a step counter: Google Fit, Apple Health, Fitbit or WeWard Sense. The app shows you how to connect it, and then it runs in the background and counts your steps.
You earn 1 Ward for every 1,500 steps, up to 25 Wards a day. You claim them yourself with the “Convert my steps” button. If you do not, the step counter resets when the day ends and you miss that day’s reward.
Cashback offersWards per purchase
Buy from one of WeWard’s partner shops and you get a number of Wards as a reward. The offers show right below the pedometer in the app. There are not a lot of them, so see this as a bonus.
Surveys, video ads and gamesSmall rewards
These are all in the Earn section of the app. For surveys, you answer qualifying questions first, and you only earn when you qualify. For video ads, you watch the full ad. For games, you install a mobile game through WeWard and complete the missions it shows.
These rewards can take up to 48 hours to reach your balance. They pay less than on apps that focus on surveys, ads and games.
ExplorationsWards per check-in
Visit a location shown in the app, check in and claim the reward. The app uses your location to confirm you are there. It does not pay enough to go out just for it, so only do it when you are already nearby.
Referral programOne-time reward, by country
Share your referral code. When someone signs up with it and earns at least 200 Wards, you get a one-time reward that depends on your country. In the US, it is 50 Wards.
How much can you make?
Not much. None of the ways to earn pay high rewards, and walking is capped at 25 Wards a day. In the UK, a reward takes 3,000 Wards, so it takes a long time before you can redeem anything.
WeWard also has a Premium membership that can improve your earning potential a lot. You get it once you have earned at least 2,000 Wards, for at least 6 months. To extend it by another 6 months, you collect 1,000 Wards from the start of your current period.
The true value of WeWard is that it motivates you to be more active, which is good for your health. See the rewards as a bonus.

How WeWard pays
You exchange your Wards for rewards. What you can choose, and how many Wards you need, depends on your country. In the UK, you need 3,000 Wards for a £15 reward.
| Method | Notes |
|---|---|
| PayPal | Cash |
| Direct bank transfer | Some bank transfers give a higher value for your Wards than others |
| Venmo | US only |
| Other rewards | Depend on your country |
| Donation | To charities WeWard supports |
There is no set value per Ward. It depends on your country and the reward you choose, and I cannot compare the rates between countries. Overall, the payout system is straightforward. If you like bank transfers, see the top sites that pay via direct bank transfer.
Who can join, and on which devices?
WeWard says it is available in 29 countries, but not which ones. It is a mobile-only app for Android and iOS. You need your phone with you anyway, because the main way to earn is walking.
To sign up, install the app and follow the steps when you open it. It takes less than a minute. The app is user-friendly and walks you through the setup of your step counter.
For questions, there is a FAQ page that covers most important topics. If it does not answer yours, use the contact form in the Contact section of the app or the website.

App is a scam. as soon as you redeem your points, your account is closed. Read the thousands of bad reviews.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I cannot say what happened in your case, but it definitely sounds frustrating. But I have also heard from many users who really like and have not had issues with it. I have also not had issues with it yet, but as I explain in the review above, it is not really an app I am using after having tested it, as I do not find it worth it from an earning perspective.
But I will definitely keep an eye on it and see how it develops and updated my review based on that.
Thanks again for sharing your experiences.
In WeWard we earn from the daily, weekly and special challenges. This where the rewards really gets a high boost. There is also a leaderboard system also and it’s weekly.
Other ways to earn apart from the methods already given are: the WeCard packs, the boost, and the streak systems.?
Thanks for sharing your experiences and opinion.
