WDYT Review – Worth Your Time? (It Depends)

WDYT Rating

WDYT is only for Australians. But if you live here it can be a decent panel to join. Just be aware that it has a high payout threshold and there are just sites that pay better.

WDYT (What Do You Think) is a survey site only for people in Australia. I joined and tested it to see if it is worth your time. Below is what I found, what readers report, and which sites I would pick first.

Partially Tested Last tested

Legit Australian survey site with a high $25 threshold

Pays decently per survey, but you need 2,500 points ($25) before you can redeem. Australia only.

Good for you ifYou live in Australia, want an extra survey site, and can be patient to reach $25.
Skip it ifYou live outside Australia, or you want a low threshold and many payout options.

The short answer

WDYT is a legit survey site that rewards you for completing surveys and inviting people to join. It pays decently per survey, and you get a small compensation when you do not qualify.

But it is only for residents of Australia, and you need 2,500 points ($25) before you can redeem, which is high compared to the best Australian survey sites. Some readers also report vouchers that took a long time to arrive. It is not one of the top-paying survey sites in Australia.

What I like
  • Pays decently per survey
  • A small compensation when you do not qualify
  • Good referral program
  • The site is mobile-friendly
What I don’t like
  • High payout threshold: 2,500 points ($25)
  • Limited payout options: vouchers or bank transfer
  • Only available in Australia
  • Some readers report vouchers that took months to arrive
  • No contact form or FAQ while you are logged in

Is WDYT legit and safe?

Yes, WDYT is a legit survey site. But being legit does not automatically make it a good opportunity. Here is what you should know before you join.

  • A high payout threshold

You need 2,500 points ($25) before the redeem button shows up. That is very high compared to most other survey sites, so it takes some patience to reach.

  • Two readers report slow vouchers

In 2020, a reader wrote that her e-gift card had not arrived a month and a half after she redeemed. When I contacted WDYT, they told me the voucher had been sent, and that there were delays with their voucher partner due to Covid-19. In 2023, another reader wrote that three redemption requests were still open, the oldest over 3 months old.

  • Limited payout options

You can redeem vouchers or withdraw cash through bank transfer. If you do not have a bank account, vouchers are the only option. Cash withdrawals take up to 10 business days to process.

  • Support is hard to find when logged in

You cannot reach the contact page or the FAQ from the member dashboard. You have to log out and go back to the home page to find them.

  • Australia only

WDYT is only available to residents of Australia. If you do not live there, joining the site is pointless.

My takeWDYT is a legit survey site, and it pays decently per survey. But it has a very high payout threshold compared to most other survey sites, and it is only available in Australia. If you live there, it can be a decent site to earn a bit extra, but it is not one of the absolute top-paying survey sites in Australia.

How you earn on WDYT

There are 2 ways to earn. Paid surveys are the main one. Tap one to read more.

Paid surveysAround 100 points ($1) each
WDYT paid surveys list

Click the My Surveys tab in the dashboard to see all the surveys you can take. Each survey shows its reward, the estimated time, whether it works on mobile, and when it went live.

Prioritize the newest surveys. Each survey has a maximum number of respondents, so older surveys are more likely to be full, and you get disqualified.

You first answer qualifying questions. If you do not qualify, you get a small compensation for your time, which you will not find on many survey sites. It does not have quite as many surveys as Toluna Influencers has in Australia, but WDYT still has enough to make it worth considering.

Referral program100 points + 10 per survey
WDYT referral program

You get 100 points for every person you invite, as soon as they complete their first survey or attempt 10 surveys. After that, you get 10 points for every survey they complete.

In my opinion, it is a decent referral program, because you keep earning as long as your referrals stay active.

How much can you make?

It mostly depends on how many survey invites you get, how many surveys you complete, and how much each survey pays. Longer surveys usually pay more points.

From what I saw in the survey list, the average is around 100 points ($1) per completed survey, which is not bad. Some readers report that most of their surveys paid 45 points or less, and that they were screened out often.

Complete the profile survey first. It gives you 500 points, and it helps you qualify for more survey invites.

Payout methods and minimums

MethodMinimumNotes
Bank transfer (cash)2,500 points ($25)Takes up to 10 business days to process
Vouchers2,500 points ($25)The only option if you do not have a bank account

The redeem button only shows up once your point balance reaches the threshold. If you want more sites with a lower threshold, see the best survey sites in Australia.

  2. They’re the worst Survey experience around.
It has taken a year just to get over 1000 points – you need 3000 to get $30
They screen out most of the time, and mostly only have surveys around the 30-50 mark, and they keep sending them out, clogging up your inbox, so it takes ages to get anywhere.

  3. WDYT used to be OK.
The points per survey are terrible – most are 45 or less
    Most get screened out
It takes absolutely ages to get any reward, not really worth the effort

    • Hi Colleen,

I just heard back from my contact at WDYT and the answer was that he has checked with the team, and the voucher has been sent through now. There have apparently been delays due to Covid-19 with their voucher partner but they say they are working on it as soon as possible.

Hope this helps and hope you have heard back from them and received your voucher?

  4. I have been a wdyt panel member for ruffly 10 and up until recently. They weren’t one of the panels that rewarded you sufficiently for your time.
That has totally changed now, but……. cash your points in for a e-gift card and you can pretty much say goodbye to them.
The conformation email they send instantly after you convert your points says there will be another email come soon so check out your inbox…… a month and half later and still no e- gift card. No reply’s to any of my emails but yet they keep sending surveys!!!
I’m about to delete my account. What a waste of time that was!!!!

    • sorry to hear that. Sounds very frustrating.

I was actually just in contact with someone from their support last week. From that, I could understand that they have had to change to working mostly remotely because if the virus situation which maybe is the reason your emails have been lost and not been answered. It is, of course, no excuse and having good support on any survey site is very important.

I will try to reach out to the person I was in contact with and see if I can get through again and ask if there is any reason for this. I will keep you updated if I hear anything. And also please keep me updated if you suddenly hear anything from them.
