I tested Gold Town, an Android app that says you can earn money by reading the news and taking quizzes. It is legit and pays through PayPal from $3, but $3 takes 1,670,000 coins, and you watch a lot of long video ads. Below is what I found, and which apps I would pick first.
Legit, but not worth your time
Coins for scrolling news, quizzes and games. PayPal from $3, but that takes 1,670,000 coins, and the ads are long.

The short answer
Gold Town is legit, but it is not worth your time. You earn coins by scrolling through news articles, answering quizzes and playing games inside the app.
But the rewards are very low: the $3 PayPal minimum takes 1,670,000 coins, which can take months. You also deal with a lot of video ads of 30 to 40 seconds, and your account is locked to one device.
- Available more or less worldwide
- Pays through PayPal
- The games are inside the app, so you do not install other apps
- The quiz questions are easy
- Very low rewards
- A lot of long video ads, many for unrealistic earning apps
- No help section, FAQ or contact form
- Your account is locked to one device
- Android only

Is Gold Town legit and safe?
Yes, Gold Town is legit, because the earning opportunities it offers are real. But legit does not mean it is worth your time. Here is what you should know.
- Months to reach $3
The PayPal minimum is only $3, but it takes 1,670,000 coins. The rewards are much lower than on most other GPT sites and apps, so you can spend a lot of hours, possibly months, before you can redeem anything.
- A lot of long video ads
You run into video ads all over the app, usually 30 to 40 seconds long. Many of them are for apps that make unrealistic earning claims, so be wary of them.
- Your account is locked to one device
You do not register. If you uninstall the app or switch to another phone, you lose all your coins and start from scratch.
- Hardly any support
There is no help section, FAQ or contact form. The only contact is an email address on its Google Play page: buttonpteltd@hotmail.com.
My takeIn my opinion, Gold Town is not worth your time. It offers very low rewards, so you have to invest a lot of time just to earn a bit of extra money. To make things worse, it does not offer a pleasant user experience or good support. You are better off investing your time in sites or apps with better earning potential.
How you earn on Gold Town
There are 4 ways to earn. All of them pay in coins. Tap one to read more.
Reading news articlesLow
Open “News Express” to see the articles. You do not actually have to read them: you keep scrolling, and a gift icon fills a progress bar. When the bar makes a full rotation, you get coins and it starts again.
The bar loads slower the longer you stay on one article, so switch to another article when it slows down. Pop-up ads show up from time to time.
Quizzes70 to 90 coins per answer
Open “Quiz Challenge” and answer the questions. Each correct answer usually gives around 70 to 90 coins. After five correct answers in a row, you can open a treasure chest for extra coins, but you watch a video ad first.
The questions are easy, and some of them come back. That happened to me several times while I tested the app. There is a daily limit, so after that you move on to the other ways to earn.
Playing gamesLow
Open the “Game Center”. The games are inside the Gold Town app, so you do not install other games. Like the news, you earn when the gift icon’s progress bar makes a full rotation while you play.
At some point, you can get a bonus by watching a video ad. It is not clear if there is a limit for games, but I would expect there is one.
Referral program20% commission
Share your referral link or code. When someone installs the app and starts using it, you get a 20% commission every time they earn. It is a decent rate, but it is hard to find people who really want to earn from Gold Town. For better options, see the best reward apps.
How much can you make?
Very little. The rewards can vary by location, but they are still a lot lower than on most other GPT sites and apps.
You can spend a lot of hours, possibly even months, just to reach the $3 threshold. That is why I consider its earning potential to be very low.
Payout method and minimum
| Method | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal | $3 | Takes 1,670,000 coins |
You convert your coins to cash through PayPal. The $3 threshold looks low, but you need a lot of coins to reach it, so it takes quite a lot of time to redeem anything.
