FocusGroups.org Review – Worth It? (Learn the Truth)

FocusGroups.org Rating

FocusGroups.org is not worth your time, in my opinion. It's not transparent about the earning opportunities it offers, as it is mainly just links that send you to other platforms. You should check out the link below instead for good alternatives.

I tested FocusGroups.org to see if it is worth your time. You can earn from some of its opportunities, but most of them are links to other websites, and the only rewards it pays itself come from a few low-paying surveys. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend instead.

Legit, but mostly links to other websites

Only its online surveys pay you directly, and they pay little. US residents only, with a $20 minimum cashout.

Good for you ifYou live in the US and want a list of focus group and study listings to apply for on other websites.

The short answer

FocusGroups.org is legit, because you can really earn from some of the opportunities it offers. But that does not tell you if it is worth it.

Most of the opportunities in its dashboard are affiliate links that take you to other websites, and those websites pay you, not FocusGroups.org. The only rewards it pays itself come from online surveys, which pay little and are few. In my opinion, FocusGroups.org is not worth your time.

What I like
  • Offers payment via PayPal
What I don’t like
  • High payout threshold
  • Not transparent with most of the earning opportunities offered
  • Has a lot of ads
  • Low rewards

Is FocusGroups.org legit and safe?

Yes, FocusGroups.org is legit, because you can really earn from some of the opportunities it offers. But that does not make it worth your time. Here is what you should know before you sign up.

  • Most opportunities are links to other websites

When you apply for a focus group, a product test, a clinical trial or an app install, you are taken to a different website where the opportunity really is. You sign up there and follow that website’s instructions. FocusGroups.org earns for sending you there. There is nothing wrong with that, but it makes it look like the opportunities are its own.

  • The FAQ is not transparent

The FAQ covers most important topics, but some of the information and terms it uses are quite misleading. It does not say clearly that most opportunities come from other websites.

  • Only US residents get paid

You can sign up from anywhere in the world, but the payout requirements say that only US residents are eligible to receive their earnings. If you live somewhere else, this is not for you.

  • A high threshold and slow payouts

You need at least $20 (2,000 points) to cash out, and the surveys pay $0.20 to $0.50 each. A payout request can then take up to two weeks to process.

  • A lot of ads

The member dashboard has a lot of ads, and some are placed where you can click them by accident. The legit and good focus group sites I have tested usually do not show any ads.

My takeIn my opinion, FocusGroups.org is not worth your time. It is not transparent about the earning opportunities it offers. The only actual way you can earn from it is by answering online surveys. The rest is a collection of affiliate links that let it earn for sending leads to other websites. If you want to join focus groups, I recommend you check out the best online focus groups for money instead.

How you earn on FocusGroups.org

The dashboard has 5 sections. Only the online surveys pay you directly. Tap one to read more.

Online surveys20 to 50 points each
Online surveys on FocusGroups.org

This is the only earning opportunity where you earn rewards directly from FocusGroups.org. You pick a survey, go through a qualifying process, and answer the survey if you qualify. If you do not qualify, you move on to the next one.

The surveys come from other survey providers, so do not be alarmed if a survey opens on a different URL. You are paid in points, typically 20 to 50 points ($0.20 to $0.50) per survey.

There were not a lot of surveys when I tested the website, so it is not something you can expect to earn from regularly.

Focus groupsPaid by another site
Paid focus group listings on FocusGroups.org

The dashboard lists online and in-person focus groups. Each listing shows the type of focus group, the compensation and the criteria to qualify.

When you click “Click Here to Apply”, you are taken to the website that hosts the focus group. You sign up there and follow its instructions to apply. That website pays you, not FocusGroups.org.

Product testingPaid by another site

You can find product tests from major brands, where you test a product and give feedback. Like the focus groups, these come from other websites, and they are mostly affiliate links.

Clinical trialsPaid by another site

Clinical trials are always related to medical conditions or medications, so they can be hard to qualify for. These listings often pay around $500 to $1,200 per study.

The real opportunity is on a different website, not on FocusGroups.org.

App installsMostly another site
App install offers on FocusGroups.org

You can supposedly also earn by installing apps on your phone. From time to time, there are also offers to install certain devices for your television.

Most of the opportunities here take you to a different website as well.

How much can you make?

Most of the listed opportunities pay a decent amount. But they come from other websites, and those websites pay you, not FocusGroups.org.

The only rewards FocusGroups.org pays itself come from the online surveys. They pay a small amount, typically $0.20 to $0.50 each, and there are not many of them. So it takes quite a while to reach the $20 threshold.

That is why I would say its real earning potential is very low. You have to invest a lot of time in low-paying surveys.

Payout methods and minimum

MethodMinimumNotes
PayPal2,000 points ($20)Up to two weeks to process
Prepaid Visa card2,000 points ($20)Up to two weeks to process
Amazon gift card2,000 points ($20)Up to two weeks to process
Check2,000 points ($20)Up to two weeks to process

Only US residents are eligible to receive their earnings. The long processing time is the biggest drawback of the payout system, in my opinion, and the threshold is quite high.

I do like that it offers PayPal. For more sites with this method, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.
