Extrabux Review – Legit or Scam? (An Inside Look)

Extrabux Rating

Extrabux is a cashback site that rewards you for availing of cashback offers as well as coupon codes. It’s not a bad cashback site, but it certainly isn’t one of the best ones either.

I tested Extrabux to see if it is a cashback site worth your time. It is legit, with PayPal from $10, but the cashback rates are low and there are better cashback sites. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend instead.

Legit cashback site, but low cashback and better options exist

Cashback on online purchases, usually 2-10%. PayPal or check from $10, gift cards from $25. Open globally, with more offers in the US, UK and Australia.

The short answer

Extrabux is a legit cashback site. It rewards you with cashback when you shop online through its offers, and it has coupon codes, bonuses and a lucky draw.

But the cashback rewards are low, and you spend your own money to earn them. It is not a bad cashback site, but it is not one of the best ones either. There are simply better options. It can serve as a decent secondary site, because of PayPal and a $10 threshold.

What I like
  • Offers payment via PayPal
  • Has a relatively low payout threshold
  • Available globally
  • Chrome extension that tracks cashback without logging in
  • A special form for missing cashback rewards
What I don’t like
  • Low cashback rewards
  • Some countries offer better opportunities than others
  • You spend your own money to earn
  • No mobile app

My experience with Extrabux

I signed up for Extrabux and looked at the cashback offers, coupons, bonuses, the lucky draw, the payout options and the support. This is what I looked at, and what I did not test.

Is Extrabux legit and safe?

Yes, Extrabux is a legit cashback site. But that does not automatically make it worth your time. Here is what you should know before you sign up.

  • Low cashback rewards

Cashback rewards typically range from 2-10%. That is not bad, but it is not that good either. Other cashback sites, like MyPoints, offer higher cashback rewards.

  • You spend your own money

Cashback is a rebate on a purchase you make. If you want to earn without spending money, a survey or Get-Paid-To site is a better fit.

  • Withdrawals in fixed steps

Cash payouts go in multiples of $10, and gift cards in multiples of $25. Wire transfer needs $5000, which is more or less impossible to reach.

  • Fewer offers outside a few countries

You can sign up wherever you live, but you get access to more offers in the US, UK and Australia.

  • A reader reported a missing payout

In May 2022, a reader said Extrabux did not pay $20. If a cashback reward is missing, use the missing cashback form on the Contact Us page to have it verified.

My takeWhat I can say about Extrabux is that it’s not a bad cashback site. But it certainly isn’t one of the best ones either. It is somehow in that area where it’s not that bad, but it’s not good either. So, in my opinion, this cashback site is not really worth it because there are simply better options.

Extrabux pays low cashback. These cashback sites offer better rewards.

How you earn on Extrabux

Cashback offers are the only clear-cut way to earn. Coupons, bonuses and the lucky draw come on top. Tap one to read more.

Cashback offersTypically 2-10%
Extrabux cashback offers

Log in and you see all available cashback offers. Click an offer, and a new tab opens on the store where you buy the product. Once you complete the purchase, you receive the cashback reward. Cashback is a rebate, so you spend your own money first.

You can also install the Extrabux browser extension. It tracks cashback even when you go straight to a partner store, so you do not have to log in every time you buy something. The extension only works on Google Chrome.

CouponsSavings
Extrabux coupon codes

Coupons do not earn you anything, but they save you a few bucks on a purchase at a partner store. Each coupon has a condition, like only being valid for your first purchase at a store.

Click Get Code, copy the code and enter it at checkout. If you meet the condition, the amount is deducted from your bill. There are typically several coupon codes you can use at any given time.

BonusesFrom time to time
Extrabux bonus for logging in

If you stay active, Extrabux hands out bonuses from time to time, for example for logging in on a Wednesday. Click Redeem to receive it.

Most bonuses are entries to the prize draws, but sometimes there are cash bonuses. Keep checking the bonus section.

Lucky DrawUp to a $66.66 cash bonus
Extrabux Lucky Draw

You get Lucky Draw cards from bonuses. Click Play, and the game awards you a random prize: up to a $66.66 cash bonus and other card bonuses.

It is not a reliable way to earn, but it is a nice addition. Just do not expect a lot from it.

How much can you make?

With cashback sites, what you earn mostly depends on how often you shop online. Extrabux has a decent number of partner stores, so you have ample choice of offers.

The cashback rates matter too. Extrabux offers a decent cashback percentage, typically 2-10%. From time to time, you see offers with a higher percentage, but that is not very common. Other cashback sites offer higher cashback rewards. A good example is MyPoints.

So overall, Extrabux does not have a high earning potential. That is why, in my opinion, it is not really worth it. There are simply better cashback sites with better offers.

Payout methods and minimums

MethodMinimumNotes
PayPal$10In multiples of $10
Check by mail$10Mailed to your doorstep, in multiples of $10
Amazon gift cards$25In multiples of $25
Wire transfer$5000More or less impossible to reach

Every cashback offer you complete adds to your Extrabux account balance. The only viable options, in my opinion, are PayPal, a check and gift cards.

I like the relatively low payout threshold of $10, which is easier to reach. For more sites with a low threshold, see the fastest paying sites.

Who can join, and how

Extrabux is available globally, so you can sign up wherever you live. If you live in the US, UK or Australia, you get access to more offers. You have to be at least 18 years old.

You can sign up with your Facebook account, with your own login details, or with your mobile number. With a mobile number, click Send Verification Code and enter the code you get by SMS.

Extrabux has no app, but the website is mobile-friendly, so you can earn on your phone too. On a laptop or desktop, the Chrome extension adds convenience: it alerts you to cashback offers when you visit a partner store.
