I checked out Earth Miles, an app that rewards you for sustainable transport. It is legit and it works passively, but it is only for people in Denmark and the rewards are discounts, not cash. Below is what I found, and which apps and sites I recommend instead.
Legit and passive, but Denmark only and no cash
You earn Earth Miles for biking, taking the train or using MitID. Rewards are discounts at stores in Denmark.

The short answer
Earth Miles is legit. It is a loyalty program for people who use sustainable transport. The app detects when you ride a bike or a train, and you earn Earth Miles without doing anything special. It also promotes a great cause: helping to make the planet greener.
But it is only available in Denmark, and you cannot get cash: the rewards are discounts at stores in Denmark. The rewards are low, so be patient. If you want to earn cash, other apps and sites are a better fit.
- Offers an interesting way to earn rewards
- Offers a passive form of earning
- Easy to use, on Android and iOS
- Supports a great cause
- Doesn’t offer cash rewards
- Low rewards
- Only available in Denmark
- It is not clear how many Earth Miles you earn per trip
My experience with Earth Miles
I installed Earth Miles, went through the setup and tried to earn with it. I also looked at the rewards and the support options. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Is Earth Miles legit and worth it?
Yes, Earth Miles is legit, because you can really earn rewards by using sustainable transportation. But that does not automatically make it worth your time. Here is what you should know before you install it.
- Only for people in Denmark
Earth Miles is only available to people who live in Denmark. The rewards are discounts at Danish stores, and MitID is a Danish digital ID.
- No cash rewards
You cannot convert Earth Miles to cash. All you can get are discounts, and the stores with discounts vary from time to time.
- Low rewards
It usually takes some time before you have enough Earth Miles to redeem a reward. You have to be very patient.
- It is not clear how you earn
The more distance you travel with sustainable transport, the more Earth Miles you earn. But the app does not explain how its system works, and the FAQ only covers a few basic topics.
- Be honest in the setup
When you set up the app, you choose how you want to earn. Just be honest with the option you choose.
My takeIn my opinion, Earth Miles is not a bad app to use if you are eligible to join. It offers a passive form of earning, and it promotes a great cause, which is to help make the planet greener. Just temper your expectations, because it does not offer high rewards, and you have to be content with discounts for stores in Denmark.
Earth Miles only gives discounts in Denmark. The top sites in your country pay you in cash.

There are 2 ways to earn, and you can choose both. Both are passive. Tap one to read more.
Using sustainable transportationMain way to earn
When you log in, the app asks how you want to earn. Choose the sustainable transportation option, and the app detects when you use it, so you do not have to do anything special.
Every time you ride a bike or a train, you earn Earth Miles. It is not quite clear how their system works, but the more distance you travel with sustainable transport, the more Earth Miles you earn. This passive form of earning is the biggest advantage of the app, in my opinion.
Using MitIDSmaller, Denmark only
MitID is a Danish digital ID. You use it for things like online banking or logging in to public self-service solutions. Every time you use your MitID, you earn Earth Miles.
You earn less this way than with sustainable transportation, but it is an easy way to earn if you feel comfortable connecting it to the app.

How much can you make?
Technically, you will not earn any money, because Earth Miles does not offer cash rewards. And I would not expect them to be very generous with Earth Miles either. Based on my experience with passive income apps like this, it usually takes some time to collect enough to redeem a reward.
That is how it should be, to motivate people to keep using sustainable transportation. So its earning potential is not that great. But it is still a good option if you want to support their cause.

|---|---|---|
| Discounts at stores in Denmark, such as GoBoat, Zenz and Guldsmeden Hotels | Depends on the reward, most often around 250 Earth Miles | Usually a 20% discount. The stores change from time to time. |
