Curious Cat App Review – Safe or Scam? (Full Details Revealed)

Curious Cat Rating

Curious Cat is an app that will pay you for completing paid surveys. It has a very low payout threshold, but in some countries there will be limited options available. It can be a decent app, but not a top choice.

I tested the Curious Cat app to see if it is worth your time. It is legit and has a very low PayPal threshold, but the surveys depend on your country, and readers report cash-out limits and locked accounts. Below is what I found, and which apps I recommend instead.

Good for you ifYou live in a country with many Curious Cat surveys, like the US, and want a secondary app with a low PayPal threshold.

The short answer

Curious Cat is a legit mobile app that pays its members for completing tasks. Most of the tasks are now paid surveys, and you can cash out to PayPal from just 100 points (£1).

But how much you can earn depends mostly on where you live, because some countries get many more tasks than others. Readers also report cash-out limits and accounts locked when they tried to cash out. It can be a secondary app, not a top choice.

What I like
  • User-friendly mobile app on Android and iOS
  • Low payout threshold: 100 points (£1)
  • Payment via PayPal is available
  • Sign-up with only your country and phone number
What I don’t like
  • Limited earning opportunities
  • The number of tasks depends on the country you live in
  • Only available in 16 countries
  • Mobile only, no desktop version
  • Readers report cash-out limits and locked accounts

My experience with Curious Cat

I joined Curious Cat, did its paid tasks and went through the registration, the payout steps and the support options. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Is Curious Cat legit and safe?

Yes, Curious Cat is a legit app that pays its members for completing tasks. But that does not automatically make it worth your time. Here is what you should know before you install it.

  • Readers report cash-out limits

Between 2021 and 2023, several readers wrote that Curious Cat put a weekly limit on how much they could cash out, and that the limit went down when they reached it again. One reader wrote that he could still withdraw within minutes, but that the limit capped what he could earn in a month.

  • Readers report locked accounts at cashout

Between 2021 and 2023, several readers wrote that their account was blocked or locked when they tried to cash out, and that support did not help. These reports are years old. If you use the app, cash out regularly.

  • Phone number verification

You sign up with your phone number and an SMS code that is valid for 5 minutes. When you request a payment, the app asks for your mobile number again to verify it. Do not be alarmed when that happens.

  • Tasks depend on your country

Some countries get many more tasks than others. If you live in a country with few tasks, you will not earn much from it.

  • Never use a VPN

If you use a VPN to fake your country, you will get blocked.

My takeIn my experience, Curious Cat is legit, but it is not a very effective app, and that is the reason I do not use it myself anymore. The low payout threshold is the best thing about it. It can serve as a secondary app if you live in a country with plenty of surveys. But there are many better survey apps out there, in my opinion.

Curious Cat has few tasks in many countries. These survey apps give you more ways to earn.

How you earn on Curious Cat

There is one main way to earn: paid tasks, which are now mostly surveys.

Paid surveys and tasks20 to 200 points
Paid tasks in the Curious Cat app

As soon as you finish the registration, you see all the paid tasks available in the member dashboard. The main way to earn is the Curious Cat surveys. It used to focus on different online micro-tasks, but it is now mainly a survey app.

Sometimes you are asked to take a poll, keep a consumer diary, or download an app and use it for some time.

When you click on a survey, a new window opens with the questions. After you submit it, Curious Cat validates it, and then you receive the promised reward. The longer and more complicated a task is, the more points it pays.

How much can you make?

It depends on how many tasks you receive and complete. On average, the app pays 20 to 200 points per task that is completed and verified, which is quite decent for some tasks.

Task availability mostly depends on where you live. Some countries offer more tasks than others. If you live in a country with many tasks, like the US, the app can be worth considering.

Readers also report weekly cash-out limits that cap what you can earn, even when there are surveys. So expect extra cash on the side, not a main income.

Payout method and minimum

MethodMinimumNotes
PayPal100 points (£1, roughly $1.30 or €1.20)Add your PayPal email in the app. You verify the payment with your mobile number.

Every task you complete earns you points. Once you have 100 points, you can request a payment to PayPal. In my experience, this usually takes quite some time, so do not worry if it does not show up in your PayPal account right away.

PayPal is the only payout option. If you want more sites with this method, see the top survey sites that pay via PayPal.

Who can join, and how the sign-up works

Curious Cat is available in the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Spain, Mexico, France, Italy and Brazil. You must be at least 18 years old.

The sign-up is different from other apps. You do not create login details. You choose your country, give your mobile phone number and enter the activation code you get by SMS. The code is only valid for 5 minutes.

There is no way to log out of the app. If you uninstall it, you go through the registration again to log back in, and you still see all the points linked to your phone number.

Mikael: Have you used a VPN to fake your country? because then you will get blocked.

“I love that I can withdraw every time I reach at least 100 points and usually it takes just minutes for the money to be available in my PayPal Account. But on the Negative, if I use the App a lot, it imposes a limit.”

“The curious cat is weird for asking accessibility for my phone…”

Reader, December 2023
Mikael: It depends what kind of access a phone is asking for and if the app is legit or not. … As far as I know from both my own testing and from feedback from my readers, Curious Cat is one of the legit apps, but there are just many better survey apps out there, in my opinion.

  1. I want to ask. The curious cat is weird for asking accessibility for my phone after that ampd i think. I no longer receive any surveys and because i got scared i turn on and off that app to accesibilty my phone. Is accesibility actually safe?

    Reply
    • It depends what kind of access a phone is asking for and if the app is legit or not. In general, most apps will ask for some kind of access but sometimes what they ask for does not make sense, in my opinion.

As far as I know from both my own testing and from feedback from my readers, Curious Cat is one of the legit apps, but there are just many better survey apps out there, in my opinion.

  2. Anyone thinking of using Curious Cat should know that they don’t like you to do too many surveys. Also the pay out area states that ,’cash out limit increases by 1000 per week’. Not sure what that meant? They also give an available date. The 1000 points has now gone to 400 per week and the available date has gone from a few days to 6 weeks. I currently have 1001 points and I’m not allowed to cash in a single penny. I’ve written to customer service on 3 seperate occasions and have not received any kind of reply. Only an even more extended available date.
Try it by all means but cash out regularly and don’t expect it to last too long.

  3. I don’t know what happened, but my account got locked, and I emailed the support center, but until now I haven’t received any updates.

    • Only their support can help with this, so nothing you can do other than wait for them to hopefully get back to you.

  4. I have been using Curious Cat for almost a year ( started in January 2022 ) and I got some mixed feelings about it. First, on the Positive, I love that I can withdraw every time I reach at least 100 points and usually it takes just minutes for the money to be available in my PayPal Account. But on the Negative, if I use the App a lot, it imposes a limit. The first time that I reach it was 1200 points ( that was like 20 AUD ) a week, but If I reach the limit again in the same month, it goes to 800 points and for the third time is just 400 points a week ( that is like 7 AUD a week ). So, is basically impossible to make more than 80 AUD a month with Curious Cat, even if the surveys keep popping, the App will limit your revenue.

    • Yes, the app have locked me out too, after imposing cash out limits. Like others here, the app has lots of surveys, but then they aren’t available. I answered honestly, but implied that I was lying to get the little payouts. I have better opportunities to complete surveys where I’m compensated by real £ and not pennies. What a shame I don’t know where the company is based as I would take them to court if I had an address in the U.K.!

  7. The prob I find is survey lengths I do quite a few of there rocket surveys and I click on quite a few of them that say 0-2 mins in length as soon as I click on them the survey time changes to something like 10 or 15 mins but the incentive doesn’t go up in line with what the survey time does leaving it unfair for the people doing the surveys. Also I have completed a certain type of survey several times on here then when you get to the end it tells you there is a problem with the data and then gives you no points and i suspects probably still uses your data which is very unfair on people doing survey

    • That definitely sounds frustrating. You can try to contact their support about this or just start taking surveys elsewhere instead.

  8. I am very disappointed with Curious Cat. I signed up earlier this year, and was enjoying completing the surveys on the app for small financial reward. It took my mind off things, as I haven’t been well recently.

I had in no way been excessive in the number of surveys I was completing, and felt I had answered all the questions really honestly, taking my time to complete the questions asked in each survey.

I now find that a cash out limit has been imposed on my account, and I have been made to feel quite guilty, even though I have done nothing wrong.

I contacted the support team at Curious Cat, and got an email that appears to make light of the issue, and in no way explains or answers my questions. It reads “Hi there … we see you have spotted our new feature”.

I have accumulated just over £3, which I can only withdraw in mid-December now. I’ll see if I can cash out at that point, but I won’t be completing any more surveys, which appears to be what this company wants anyway. They do not reward people’s loyalty to their app.

What is even more surprising is that the app keeps sending me reminder messages saying “Meow. You have new tasks waiting for you”! Very frustrating! I will be closing my account and deleting the app if I am ever allowed to cash out.

You need to look at customer service here Curious Cat. The competition in this area is huge, and it is to them that I will be turning now.

Curious Cat has now locked my account! This is so bad. Please DO NOT entertain this company.

  9. SCAM SITE. Please avoid this app at all costs.

It is a complete rip-off. After completing a pile of surveys, the moment I tried to cash out my account was immediately frozen and I was locked out. Despite numerous emails to “customer support”, I was told that their “AI systems” had detected “suspicious fraudulent activity” and they basically said “we’ve closed your account to maintain the integrity of our community”.

I think what they meant to say was “we have closed your account and we are stealing your earnings and there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it”.
    AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

  11. Currious cat surveys is a scammer I’ve been using the app for about a month and on the higher paying surveys most won’t redirect at the end of the survey it which means you won’t get paid. Other sites will review and get back to you and will pay you if you completed the survey but not currious cat they do everything they can not to pay.
