CrowdTap Review – Is It Legit? (Full Details Revealed)

CrowdTap Rating

CrowdTap is a legit survey site and what makes it a decent site to join is their surveys won’t eat up much of your time. However, you won’t be able to earn cash from this site so temper your expectations.

I joined and tested CrowdTap to see if its quick surveys are worth your time. It is legit and takes little time, but it pays in gift cards only and the rewards are low. Below is what I found, and which sites I would pick first.

Good for you ifYou live in the US and want a quick secondary site to earn Amazon, Target or Walmart gift cards.

The short answer

CrowdTap is legit. It is a market research company that rewards you for answering its surveys. The surveys are very short, almost like polls, so it does not take much of your time.

But you cannot earn cash on CrowdTap: you only get gift cards, and the rewards are low. It is only available in the US, and your points expire after 1 year. Several readers report that their account was banned without a clear reason. It can serve as a good secondary site to earn gift cards, if you live in the US.

What I like
  • User-friendly site and an app for iOS and Android
  • Won’t take up a lot of your time
  • Low payout threshold of $5
  • Multiple people from one household can join
  • Profile questions also earn points
What I don’t like
  • Limited earning opportunities
  • No cash rewards, gift cards only
  • Only available in the US
  • Points expire after 1 year
  • Several readers report account bans

My experience with CrowdTap

I joined CrowdTap, answered its profile questions and short surveys, and later checked the app. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Is CrowdTap legit and safe?

Yes, CrowdTap is legit, because it really rewards you for taking part. But that does not make it a good site to join if you want to earn cash. Here is what you should know.

  • No cash rewards

CrowdTap does not offer PayPal or any other cash payout. You can only redeem e-gift cards. They are a lot like cash because you can buy products with them, but if you want cash, you will be disappointed.

  • Points expire after 1 year

Redeem a gift card before your points are a year old, or you lose them.

  • Several readers report account bans

Four readers wrote that CrowdTap banned or blocked their account without a clear reason, and one of them did not receive a gift card they had just redeemed. If you use a VPN, survey sites block you without warning, so never use one.

  • Low rewards

The surveys are short, so they pay little: usually around 3 points each. It takes a lot of surveys to reach the 1,000-point threshold.

  • Only in the US

CrowdTap is only available to US residents.

My takeWhat really makes CrowdTap a good site to join is that its surveys will not eat up much of your time. However, you will not be able to earn cash from this site, so temper your expectations. It does have a decent number of gift cards to choose from, so it can still serve as a good secondary site to earn gift cards, if you live in the US.

CrowdTap pays in gift cards only. These survey sites pay cash through PayPal.

How you earn on CrowdTap

There are 2 ways to earn. Short surveys are the main one. Tap one to read more.

Short surveysAround 3 points each
Short multiple-choice surveys on CrowdTap

CrowdTap is a bit different from other survey sites. Its surveys are quite short, almost like polls, and most are multiple choice. You can finish one in less than a minute.

Because they are so short, each one pays little, usually around 3 points. On average, you run out of surveys after 10 to 15 minutes, so it is not a big time commitment. Surveys were usually available daily while I was testing it.

The only other survey site I have seen that regularly offers short surveys is PaidViewpoint.

Profile questionsPoints too
CrowdTap profile questions

When you first log in, you see a lot of questions about your preferences. These build your profile, and CrowdTap uses them to qualify you for more surveys later.

Your time is not wasted: you also get reward points for answering them.

How much can you make?

You cannot earn actual money from CrowdTap. You earn gift cards instead. How many depends on how much time you spend on the site.

You need at least 1,000 points to redeem a $5 gift card. Larger gift cards cost more points: a $10 Amazon gift card costs 2,000 points. With around 3 points per short survey, it takes a lot of surveys to reach the threshold.

Overall, do not expect to earn a lot, because the rewards are pretty low. But the surveys do not take much time either, so CrowdTap does not need a big time investment.

Rewards and minimum

RewardPointsNotes
$5 gift card1,000The minimum you can redeem
$10 Amazon gift card2,000Larger cards cost more points
Target, Walmart and other gift cardsFrom 1,000E-gift cards from the rewards catalog

You do not get a physical card. CrowdTap sends an e-gift card by email, within 2 business days after you redeem. Points expire after 1 year, so redeem before then.

If you really prefer cash, see the top survey sites that pay via PayPal.

Who can join CrowdTap?

CrowdTap is not available globally. It is only available in the US. If you are a US resident, fill out the registration form to become a member. There are many great survey sites in the US, so see the best survey sites for the USA too.

One unique thing about CrowdTap is that it allows multiple people from one household to become members. Most survey sites only allow one person per household.

CrowdTap now has an app for iOS and Android, which makes it easy to take surveys on the go. Some features are not in the app yet, so it is still a good idea to use the website once in a while.

For support, CrowdTap has a detailed FAQ section. To contact the support team, you log in to the support page with your Google account and submit a request through the contact form. The support page mentions a video series, but when I clicked it, there were no videos.

Banned or blocked accounts4 comments

Four readers wrote that their account was banned or blocked without a clear reason. One also did not receive a gift card they had just redeemed. A VPN gets you blocked on any survey site.

“I loved Crowdtap for years and then there were episodes where all of a sudden I would get banned.”

Mikael: Sorry to hear that. But thanks for sharing your experiences.

“I used to like this AP until our of the blue they blocked my account for NO REASON. I had just redeemed my points for an Amazon Gift Card and Never received my Gift Card.”

Reader, May 2023
Mikael: Maybe you have used VPN? If that is the case, all survey sites will block you without warning.

  1. I loved Crowdtap for years and then there were episodes where all of a sudden I would get banned. I was temporarily banned a few times with no specific reasons just the same canned answer that I violated their community guidelines.
A few months ago they now banned me for good with no reason other than same past response.
My wife has been repeatedly banned as well……..
    Disappointing

  2. I used to like this AP until our of the blue they blocked my account for NO REASON. I had just redeemed my points for an Amazon Gift Card and Never received my Gift Card. I have tried to get an answer as to why my account is blocked and there is NO reasonable explanation for it. Not Right. It is Also Hard to get Customer Support to get back with you.

  3. Don’t waste your time and effort. They will disabled your account due to violation of term. When you’ve done nothing wrong. Poor service.
