I looked at the Clear! app to see if scanning receipts, short surveys and usage monitoring are worth it. It is legit, but the rewards are low, you only get vouchers, and you share quite a bit of data. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend instead.
Legit, but low rewards in vouchers only, and you share a lot of data
UK-only app that rewards receipts, short surveys and usage monitoring. Vouchers from £5, no cash.

The short answer
Clear! is legit. You can really earn rewards from it by scanning receipts, answering short surveys and turning on its Usage Monitoring.
But its earning potential is not very high, and the process requires you to share quite a bit of data. You can only submit 22 receipts per week, surveys are rare, and you only get vouchers, no cash. It is best treated as a secondary app.
- Offers a more or less passive way to earn
- You turn receipts you would throw away into rewards
- No disqualifications in its surveys
- Tutorial videos and a helpful FAQ
- Doesn’t offer cash rewards
- Low rewards
- Only available in the UK
- Usage Monitoring tracks a lot of what you do on your phone
- The app can be slow to load

Is Clear! legit and safe?
Yes, Clear! is legit. You can really earn rewards from it. But it asks for a lot of your data for small rewards. Here is what you should know.
- You share quite a bit of data
Usage Monitoring tracks which apps and websites you use, how often, and sometimes for how long. It also detects which ads you see, including audio ads picked up by your microphone when the Ad Detector is on. Clear! anonymizes and aggregates this data and sells it to advertisers, brands, retailers and research firms. It promises never to send you targeted data.
- Low rewards, and no cash
Most users report £0.05 to £0.10 per receipt. Surveys are rare. You can only redeem vouchers and gift cards, from £5.
- Receipts must follow the rules
Receipts must be for physical products and issued within 7 days. Include the date, the store name and the total in a clear photo. Forward digital receipts from the email you signed up with.
- UK only
Clear! is only available in the UK. If you live somewhere else, it is not for you.
My takeClear!, in my opinion, is not for everyone. Its actual earning potential is not very high, and the process requires you to share quite a bit of data. It can be worth joining if you are comfortable with the data-sharing aspect and only expect small side earnings.
Clear! pays in vouchers only. These sites pay cash and give you more ways to earn.
See the best alternativesHow you earn on Clear!
There are 3 ways to earn. Scanning receipts is the main one. Tap one to read more.
Scanning receipts£0.05 to £0.10 each
Take a photo of a receipt issued within the last 7 days and upload it in the app. Include the date, the name of the store and the total amount paid. For long receipts, the app guides you.
You can also forward digital receipts to receipts@clear-app.com from the email you signed up with. Receipts must be for physical products, so services do not count. You can submit 22 receipts per week. Most users report £0.05 to £0.10 per receipt.
Short surveys£0.50 to £0.60 each
From time to time you are invited to a short survey in the Survey section. You do not get disqualified, unlike on most survey sites. They usually pay around £0.50 to £0.60 for a couple of minutes. But they are rare: I never encountered one while testing the app.
Usage MonitoringPassive, not much
Turn on Usage Monitoring and the app tracks which apps and websites you use and which ads you see. This data funds the rewards. There is no exact breakdown of how much you earn for it, so do not expect much.
How much can you make?
Not much. You can only submit 22 receipts per week, and most users report £0.05 to £0.10 per receipt. That severely limits the app’s earning potential.
Surveys are rare, and Usage Monitoring pays an amount Clear! does not break down. The upside is that you turn receipts you would throw away into rewards, without much time or effort.
