Is the Boots Volunteers Panel legit and safe?
Yes, it is the legit testing panel of Boots. But legit does not mean it is worth your time. Here is what you should know before you sign up.
- You must travel to Nottingham to earn
Cash only comes from on-site research studies at the evaluation center in Nottingham, UK. If you live far away, the travel cost makes it not profitable. Some studies also ask you to come back several times over a period of time, so it takes a certain level of commitment.
- On-site studies are not that common
You get invited by email, and you must pass a screening questionnaire first. You can consider yourself lucky if you get invited once every couple of months, so it is not something you can earn from regularly.
- Home studies pay in products, not cash
Home user studies are the only option if you do not live near Nottingham. You test a Boots product at home and answer questionnaires, and you get to keep the product. That is all the reward you get.
- It does not always accept new members
Boots Volunteers receives hundreds of requests to join each month, so it closes sign-ups to keep the ratio of testers to studies balanced. When sign-ups are closed, you only see a login form.
My takeIn my opinion, the Boots Volunteers Panel is a decent site to earn extra cash from if you live near its evaluation center. If not, then I suggest you find other ways to earn extra cash, because all you will ever get from it is an opportunity to get free stuff from Boots.

There are 2 ways to take part. Only the on-site studies pay cash. Tap one to read more.
On-site research studies£50 to £400
This is the main way to earn. It starts with an email that links to the study’s questionnaire. If you pass the screening, you confirm your appointment by text and pick a date and time that works for you. You then get the details of the study by email, with pre-appointment instructions and restrictions.
You must visit the evaluation center in Nottingham, UK, on the appointed date. If the study tests a product over a period of time, you need to return as and when required. After your last visit, you are paid for your time. If you cannot complete the study, you get part payment based on what you completed. All the products you test are Boots products.
Home user studiesFree products
From time to time, you get an email inviting you to a home user study, with a screening questionnaire. If you pass, Boots ships the product to your door, which can take a few days. The package holds the product sample and a study information sheet with directions and your questionnaire schedule.
Studies run from one day to 12 weeks. You are notified by email when a questionnaire is due, and each one stays open for three days. After the test, you keep the product. That is the only reward: no cash.
How much can you make?
It mostly depends on how many on-site research studies you can take part in. Payments for on-site studies range from £50 to £400, depending on the complexity and duration of the study. You stand to earn a good amount if the study needs multiple sessions. Boots also factors in transportation costs when it sets the compensation.
But overall, the earning potential is not that great, because on-site studies are not that common. Home user studies get you free Boots products, not cash. If you want more ways to test products, see the best product testing sites.
How you get paid
| Method | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Prepaid Mastercard | None | Paid in cash for on-site studies only |
Once you complete an on-site research study, the compensation goes straight into your Boots Volunteers account. Then it is up to you whether you redeem it or keep building up your earnings. You do not need to earn a specific amount to withdraw.
Overall, I would say its payment system is relatively straightforward, and I like that it is convenient. For more sites with a convenient payment method, see the top sites that pay via direct bank transfer.
Who can join, and how
The Boots Volunteers Panel is only available to UK residents. Because the evaluation center is in Nottingham, the on-site studies are only profitable if you live near that area. If traveling to Nottingham is out of the question, see the top survey sites in the UK, which you can join without traveling anywhere.
To become a member, you fill out the sign-up form. But the site does not always accept new members, and it says so in its FAQ. If you only see a login form when you try to register, sign-ups are closed for now, so check the website again later.
There is no app. The only time you can use your phone is to answer the screening questionnaire, and even then a computer is more convenient, so you can type your answers quickly.
