Tellwut Surveys Review – Legit and Worth it? (NOT for All)

Tellwut Rating

Tellwut does not have a lot of surveys but it has some different paid surveys than other sites so if you live in the US or Canada, it can be worth considering as an extra site.

I joined Tellwut and tested it myself. It is legit and a fun way to earn a bit extra, but it is not for everyone. Below is how it works, what it pays, and the one thing you must know before you join.

The short answer

Tellwut is legit. It is a market research company from Toronto, Canada, that has run since 2010. You earn points for short polls from other members, for creating your own polls, and for external surveys.

But Tellwut only pays out to the US and Canada. You can sign up and earn points from other countries, so it is easy to waste your time. And the rewards are low compared to many other survey sites. See it as a fun extra site.

What I like
  • Fun and social to use
  • Opportunities every day
  • Trustworthy company
  • Great support, once you know where to write
  • Pays in cash through PayPal, or in gift cards
What I don’t like
  • Only pays out to the US and Canada, and that is easy to overlook
  • Low rewards compared to other survey sites
  • Few external surveys, which pay the most
  • The site design is a bit confusing
  • One of the lowest referral rewards I have seen

My experience with Tellwut

I joined Tellwut, went through its earning options, and contacted its support. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Is Tellwut legit and safe?

Yes, Tellwut is legit. It is a real market research company, and you can actually earn as a member. But there are some things you should know before you join.

  • It only pays out to the US and Canada

You can sign up from anywhere if you are 18 or older, and you can use many of the options from any country. The sign-up page says it is only for the US and Canada, but that is easy to overlook. If you live anywhere else, you can earn points that you can never cash out.

  • Low rewards

Member polls pay 5 to 15 points, and a referral pays 25 points, which is around 6 cents. External surveys pay the most, but there are not many of them. It takes patience to make any real money.

  • The community can eat your time

Below every member poll there are discussions you can join. That can be fun, but if your goal is to earn, it can be very distracting.

  • The member inbox does not reach support

The inbox lets you send a message to Tellwut, but that only goes to other members. I got no answer twice. When I wrote to support@tellwut.com, I got a reply within a day.

My takeI think Tellwut has potential, mostly if you see it as a kind of social media that is fun to use while you make a bit of money. But you can only get paid in the US or Canada. Even there, I would also join other survey sites in your country. As an extra site, Tellwut can be a fun and nice way to earn a bit extra.

How you earn on Tellwut

There are 6 ways to earn. External surveys pay the most, member polls are the easiest. Tap one to read more.

Polls from other members5–15 points
A short Tellwut poll created by another member

All members can create short polls, and you get paid to answer them. Most take less than a couple of minutes. They can be about anything: an ad, a beauty trend, lifestyle or favorite food. Some have funny pictures or small videos.

There are often several a day. Scroll to the bottom of a poll to see how many points you earn before you start. After you answer, you see right away how other members answered.

External surveys25–2,000 points

These come from companies and organizations, like on other survey sites. The longer the survey, the higher the reward. This is the method that makes the most money, but there are not many of them.

Find them under “Earn Rewards Live” in the menu, or in your email. How many you get depends on your location and your profile, so fill out your profile in the member area.

Create your own polls10–20 points

You get paid a little when a poll you create is approved. You can add pictures or small videos. Polls that are offensive, or that ask a question that was asked before, are not approved.

You can create 2 polls a week. More than that are not approved, so they are a waste of time.

Talk with other membersNo points
Discussions between Tellwut members

Tellwut is just as much a community as a survey site. You can comment and reply in the discussions below every poll. It can be nice and interesting, but also very time-consuming.

Refer friends25 points

You get 25 points when someone joins through your invitation. That is around 6 cents, one of the lowest referral rewards I have seen. Only invite friends you think will like the site.

Weekly drawLuck only

Every time you try a survey, whether you qualify or not, you get an entry into a weekly draw. If you are lucky, you win 4,000 points ($10). Do not count on it.

Click to Check Out Tellwut for Yourself

How much can you make?

Not a lot. The rewards on Tellwut are not the biggest. This is what each activity pays:

ActivityPoints
Create an account and add your infoUp to 250
Answer a poll from another member5–15
Create an approved poll10–20
Answer an external survey25–2,000
Refer a friend25
Win the weekly draw4,000

With about 100 points worth $0.25, it takes patience to make any real money. External surveys have the biggest potential, but you get the fewest of them. You can make a bit of extra money on Tellwut, but not as much as on many other survey sites.

How you get paid

You earn points and exchange them for rewards. The value of a point depends on the reward you pick. Two examples:

RewardPointsValue
Amazon gift card (fastest reward)4,000$10
Tango Card4,500$10

You can also pick PayPal, a prepaid Visa card, and gift cards to Target, Starbucks and movies. PayPal came with a big update, so you can now get paid in cash.

Rewards are only paid out to members in the US and Canada.

Ease of use, mobile and support

Tellwut is not the most user-friendly site. The design is a bit confusing, with ads at the top and in the sidebar, and it is not very clear how to get started. With a bit of patience, you quickly figure it out.

There is no Tellwut app, but you can use the website in the browser on any phone. It has the same options as on a computer and works well on small screens.

For support, write to support@tellwut.com. The member inbox does not reach support. Once I knew this, support was very fast and helpful. Tellwut is also active on Facebook, but you can only comment on posts there.

  1. Thank you for sharing your opinion and thoughts. I wasn’t aware of the social aspect, I thought it was like Swagbucks, Branded Surveys, and Survey Junkie. I’ll stick with it for now to see if it’s for me. I like to spend 2 hours a day on each survey site I use so maybe it’ll be good for me.. who knows. Question, do you know of any other survey sites besides mypoints and others listed above? Thanks love, have a great day.

  3. I tried doing a survey once and it was a pain in the neck. It went on and on, page after page. I thought it would never stop. I finally gave up and discontinued. That turned me away completely from surveys, plus no monetary reward is even worse. Tellwut seems to be for those who really love to do surveys, so as for me, I will stay away from it. Are there any surveys that pay well?

    • Thanks for sharing your experience Carol.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience in the past. Some surveys can be long, but luckily not all. After a while, you will also figure out how to do surveys faster but still do them honestly.

There are plenty of sites that offer good opportunities, and where the rewards are also worth the time. But it depends what your expectations and goals are. Surveys will never be what gives you an extremely high hourly rate, if you calculate it like that. But it can make some nice extra money and it is possible to make for example $500-$1000 per month, if you join the best sites and are pretty active. You can see a list of my top 10 in the top menu, if you are interested.

But surveys will not make you rich or a full time income, and should not be done, if that is the goal. But they are easy to do and do not take any training, and they are 100% free to do and will with 100% guarantee make you a profit from day one, and that makes it quite unique compared to other ways to make money online. So whether they pay well or not, and whether it is worth the time mainly depends on your expectations and goals.

      All the best,
      Mikael

  4. Thank you for yet another survey review. Never heard of Tellwut before and I think the idea of giving ones opinion is great.

However, I’m not keen at all on survey sites that pay in points, not just worth my time.

This is a good starting point for anyone that wants to get to know how to start an online survey.

I also prefer when survey sites gives reward in money and not points. There are however very good sites that are using points, but you can exchange it into cash. So as long as it can be exchanged into it is fine by me:-)

      All the best,

        • Hi Penny,

There are luckily quite a lot of sites that pay in cash. One of the easiest ways to get the money is to sign up for the survey sites that pay through PayPal. You can click the link to see some of the best sites that have this option. These all pay in cash that way. Which ones are the best depends where in the world you live. If you want me to give a few ideas for the best sites for you, just let me know in which country you live.

          All the best,
          Mikael

I just read your article on Tellwut Surveys, while it sounds very easy to do, they pay out seems very low to me.
I am going to look into the other options you have recommended.
Thanks for the info on Tellwut Surveys.
