I looked into Reckner Opinions to see if its market research studies are worth joining. It is legit and the rewards are high, but most studies are in person, near three US research facilities. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend if you want to earn online.

Legit, but mostly for people who live near its US facilities
High rewards and no payout threshold. Few online surveys, US only, and paid by prepaid Visa card.

The short answer
Reckner Opinions is a legit market research site that pays you for taking part in its studies. The rewards are high, and you are paid after every study, with no payout threshold.
But it focuses on in-person studies, not online ones. Focus groups and taste tests take place at its research facilities in Chalfont (PA), Harrison (NY) and Milwaukee (WI). If you do not live near one of them, or you only want to earn online, it is not worth your time.
- High rewards
- No payout threshold
- You are paid after every study
- Taste tests and home use tests can be fun
- Support by email and phone
- Not focused on online earning opportunities
- In-person studies are only for people who live near a research facility
- Only available in the US
- Paid by prepaid Visa card, not PayPal
- No member dashboard and no app

Is Reckner Opinions legit and safe?
Yes, Reckner Opinions is legit and pays you for taking part in its studies. But that does not automatically make it a good fit for you. Here is what you should know before you sign up.
- Most studies are in person
Focus groups and taste tests take place at a research facility, and you sometimes pick up products there. If you do not live near Chalfont, Harrison or Milwaukee, do not expect to be invited to these.
- Few online surveys
You will receive invites to online surveys from time to time, but not enough to be worth it if you only want to earn online.
- Paid by prepaid Visa card only
There is no PayPal. You get a prepaid Visa card after the study, or a link to a virtual card by email for online surveys.
- Cancel or reschedule by phone
If you sign up for an in-person or phone survey and cannot attend, call the number in the invite to cancel or reschedule. If you do not, you are less likely to receive invites in the future.
- Watch your inbox
All invites come by email, and there is no dashboard to log in to. Add research@reckner.com as a safe sender and check your email regularly.
My takeReckner Opinions focuses mostly on in-person studies rather than online ones. The real benefit is for people who live near one of its research facilities, because they have a better chance of earning a significant amount. So if you live close to one, it can be worth checking out. But if you only want to work online, I recommend the top survey sites in your country instead.
How you earn on Reckner Opinions
There are four ways to earn. Tap one to read more.
Paid surveysShown in the invite
Surveys can be online, in person or over the phone. All invites come by email, so set research@reckner.com as a safe sender. Reckner also sometimes posts new studies on its Facebook page.
Online surveys work like on any survey site: you answer qualifying questions first, and if you qualify, you take the survey and get the reward promised in the invite. In-person surveys are in-depth interviews at one of its research locations, and phone surveys are interviews over the phone.
Focus groups1.5 to 2 hours
A focus group is a roundtable discussion where a small group of typically around 8 to 10 people share their opinions about a topic, led by a trained moderator. They usually last 1.5 to 2 hours and take place at one of the research facilities in Chalfont (PA), Harrison (NY) and Milwaukee (WI). You are paid when the focus group is finished.
Home use testsProduct testing
You use a product at home for a specific period. Sometimes you pick it up at a central location, and sometimes it is mailed to you. Afterwards you share your opinion through a paper questionnaire, a follow-up phone call or an online survey.
Taste testsNow and then
You go to a central location and taste one or more food or beverage products, and say what you like and dislike. Reckner does not offer these a lot, but they can be fun and worth taking if you get the chance.
How much can you make?
The website does not say how much you can earn per study. The amount is in each invite and is usually based on how much time the study takes. Studies where you show up in person usually pay the most, but they can take a lot of time if you do not live close to a facility.
Because Reckner focuses on in-person studies, your earning potential mostly depends on where you live. If you live near one of its facilities, you can benefit more from it.
If you are only looking for online opportunities, you are better off joining sites that focus on online surveys.
How you get paid
| Method | Minimum | When |
|---|---|---|
| Prepaid Visa card | None | Given to you when you finish an in-person study |
| Virtual prepaid card | None | A link by email after an online survey |
There is no member dashboard to log in to and no payout threshold. Every time you finish a study, survey, focus group, taste test or product test, you get paid.
A prepaid Visa card is convenient, but PayPal would have been better, especially for online surveys. For sites that pay this way, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.
Reckner Opinions alternatives I have reviewed

| Respondent | Well-paid research projects, online or in person, paid to PayPal | None; paid after each project | 3.0 / 5 |
