I tested the Premise app to see if it is worth your time. It pays you to answer questions and take photos at locations near you, but the tasks take a lot of time, and several readers report payout problems. Below is what I found, and which apps I would pick first.
Real app with a low threshold, but slow to earn
You get paid to answer questions and take photos at locations near you. Low threshold, but tasks take time, and several readers report failed cashouts.
On this page
The short answer
Premise is a real app that has paid many people for survey tasks: questions, photos and data from locations near you. The threshold is low, usually around $5.
But several readers report cashouts that failed for weeks or months, and accounts suspended without a clear reason. The tasks also take a lot of time, because you often have to go to a location. There are far better ways to earn from a mobile app.
- User-friendly
- Convenient payment methods: PayPal, Bitcoin, Payoneer
- Low payout threshold
- On Android and iOS
- Several readers report failed cashouts and suspended accounts
- Limited earning opportunities
- Availability of survey tasks depends on the city you live in
- Time-intensive tasks
- Mobile only, with GPS and mobile internet

Is Premise legit and safe?
Premise has paid many people in the past. Several readers have reported payout problems over the years. Here is what you should know before you start.
- Cashouts can fail for weeks or months
Readers report that cashouts kept failing, and support said there was a problem with PayPal or the payment providers. In 2023, Premise had problems paying for months. Some readers later got paid.
- Accounts can get suspended
Readers report accounts suspended without a clear reason, and earnings they did not get. One reader says it happened after using two devices on the same account.
- Tasks take a lot of time
Most tasks ask you to go to a certain location and take pictures. Going somewhere just to earn a few bucks defeats the purpose. You only earn efficiently if you are already near the task.
- Store tasks can be hard to complete
Readers say the product codes in store tasks often do not match what is on the shelf, so they could not finish tasks they had traveled for.
- Few tasks in some cities
Tasks depend on where you live. In a city with few offers, you will have a hard time reaching the threshold.
My takePremise is a fairly decent app if you live in an area with plenty of offers. But you will not be able to earn efficiently, and several readers have reported payout problems over the years. There are far better ways to earn from a mobile app, so this app is not for everyone. If you want to earn on your phone without going to certain locations, check out the top paid survey apps instead.

There is 1 way to earn: Survey Tasks. Tap it to read more.
Survey TasksRelatively well, but slow
When you first log in, you record your location and take a photo. Then the dashboard shows the survey tasks you can do near you.
Some tasks only ask questions. Most ask you to go to a certain location and take pictures or give data, so you always need a mobile internet connection.
Every task shows what you earn and has an expiration date. Start with the tasks that expire soonest, or the ones closest to you.
How much can you make?
It depends on how many tasks you complete, and how many tasks there are where you live. Some locations have plenty of offers, others only a few.
The tasks pay relatively well, because you have to go to a location. But the time-to-money ratio is not good, since a task takes a lot of time unless you are already there.
Overall, the earning potential of this app is not that good.
Payout methods and minimums
| Method | Minimum |
|---|---|
| PayPal | Depends on your country, usually around $5 |
| Bitcoin | Depends on your country, usually around $5 |
| Payoneer | Depends on your country, usually around $5 |
| Other options | Depends on your country |
You earn in the currency of your country: dollars in the US, pounds in the UK, and so on. Which payout methods you get depends on your country.
Several readers report cashouts that failed for weeks or months. My review does not show a payout, so I cannot say how fast Premise pays.
What 57 readers told me
This review has 57 comments since 2020: 32 from readers and 25 replies from me. These are the four things readers write about most.
Readers from 2020 to 2023 could not cash out for weeks or months. Support blamed PayPal or the payment providers.
Readers report accounts suspended without warning and earnings that were kept, and generic replies from support.
Some readers got paid, including fast transfers to a local wallet. One reader says Premise released the delayed payments in April 2023.
Readers spent hours in stores and could not find products with matching codes.
“they no longer pay, they have been rejecting any payment request for about a month, by whatever means. I contact technical support (there are only tickets) and they say that they have problems paying, but they do not solve anything else.”
Mikael: I have seen them say they have problems paying, and it is very strange it has taken so long for them to fix it. For now, we will have to wait and see if they manage to fix it soon. Let’s hope they will. At least their support still replies to questions, so there is still hope.
“Why write a review on them and tag them LEGIT when many people are complaining they don’t pay?”
Mikael: As I clearly explain in comments here, there currently are some payment issues, and I am keeping an eye on it. But the fact is that they have paid many people in the past but there are some issues the last few months and we have to see how it turns out.
“after criticism was rained on them from all sides for not paying, they are finally releasing the payments, my pending payment has already arrived.”
Mikael: That is great to hear. Thanks for sharing.
“My problem is that they keep suspending my account for no reason. I’ve contacted them through email and it took about 2 weeks to resolve the matter.”
Mikael: Sorry but only their support can help with this.

Who tested Premise for this review
If you have any comments, questions, or experiences with Premise, I would love to hear from you in a comment below.
My problem is that they keep suspending my account for no reason. I’ve contacted them through email and it took about 2 weeks to resolve the matter. But on the following day when I tried to log in, the same issue came up.
Sorry but only their support can help with this.
thanks Michael
You are welcome.
Well, after criticism was rained on them from all sides for not paying, they are finally releasing the payments, my pending payment has already arrived.
That is great to hear. Thanks for sharing.
scam currently in Mexico, they no longer pay, they have been rejecting any payment request for about a month, by whatever means.
I contact technical support (there are only tickets) and they say that they have problems paying, but they do not solve anything else.
I have seen them say they have problems paying, and it is very strange it has taken so long for them to fix it. For now, we will have to wait and see if they manage to fix it soon. Let’s hope they will. At least their support still replies to questions, so there is still hope.
It has been more then a month now, that no payments have been made. You can also check out their Facebook page what people say.
Thanks for sharing. I will look more into this.
Why write a review on them and tag them LEGIT when many people are complaining they don’t pay?
Don’t you think your post is misleading?
As I clearly explain in comments here, there currently are some payment issues, and I am keeping an eye on it. But the fact is that they have paid many people in the past but there are some issues the last few months and we have to see how it turns out.
But no matter what, I clearly mention in the review that there are many better and faster ways to earn.
Finally got above $10, and I can’t cash out no matter how many times I try! Will give them a couple days to see if I get and help, may just need to “lose” my $11.50 and delete the app
Thanks for sharing. Try contacting their support also. And let me know how it goes.
I’ve contacted support for this same issue over a dozen times in over a month now and I get the same excuse of their working on fixing their payment providers. But nothing happens and I’m never able to cash out. I don’t want to think negatively about this app or give any other review anywhere other than this one but im on edge of thinking this app is a complete scam. Please help me with this issue if you can? I just want the money I earned which is nearly $60 so that’s why i haven’t completely given up on premise yet. But I put my earned time, gas and expense in this and would appreciate my payout. Thanks so much.
Melinda Smith
I definitely understand it is frustrating. But there is nothing I can do as I have nothing to do with the company. All we can hope is that they will fix it soon and hope they will start paying out again.
Been over a week and I can’t cash out, they’ve done two updates . But told me other day there is a tech issue with PayPal?
I just want to ask about the process of transferring the money this time. The last time i transferred money, it only took seconds, now it will take 2 to 3 business days.
You need to ask their support about this.
Seems the payment method is down cos I’ve tried several times to withdraw with my Paga account since 3rd of this month but it keeps showing cash out failed
You need to contact their support about this.
this is true, I got the money 1 1/2 years, as long as you don’t break their rules, because they will detect that you are doing something modus. I got P1,100, it’s just a hobby, it doesn’t really make me rich. I don’t do the task because I can’t, I can only do surveys. The process when I transferred the money was fast by linking to my gcash account, it was transferred immediately in seconds and I transferred it immediately to my bank account.
Thanks for sharing your experiences about this.
If you run their UPC codes through a UPC database you will quickly discover that none of the products you are asked to look for actually exist. Premise is nothing more than a scam.
Thanks for sharing your opinion about this.
Premise suspended my account for no reason.I contacted support but no response. This app is a waste of time and a huge scam. Stay away from these thieves.
Sorry to hear that but thanks for sharing.
Premise is BULLSHIT!
I tried it one day, chose about 7 tasks, finding 7 products in stores. Each task supposed to take “3-5 minutes” and pay 5 or 6 dollars.
Spent three hours (after which the tasks expire) in 5 different stores (including the ones directed to for each product) didn’t find ONE, a few times I found the item but the bar codes have to match exactly with the one in the app for your task product and they were always one or two digits off.
Apparently they’re only sending you after extra rare, seasonal and discontinued items that they couldn’t find themselves and know probably aren’t in stock anymore but they want suckers like you to go looking for them, just in case the impossible happens and you actually find it. So they want you to look for them like a fool when they couldn’t find it themselves, dangling 5 bucks in front of you that they know you’ll never collect because they know you’ll probably never find the items if they couldn’t themselves, so it’s just abuse of your time, hope and expectation.
You’ll make about a dollar a day doing surveys that take 20 minutes each for 20 cents a survey.
They’re looking for idiots. Good luck.
Thanks for sharing your experiences about this.
It is a dumb app and totally unreasonable. They suspended my account and confiscated my earnings ($13) which were accumulated over a VERY LONG time just because i used two devices but it was the same account. Don’t use it. It is a waste of the time.
They are getting worst! They are rejecting surveys (not assignment) for no reason. Many others are complaining that their account is being closed without notice or reason. The customer support copy and paste their response or they don’t resolve the situation at all.
You are 100% correct. Premise is a scam.
AGREE
I use it in Japan.
It is true that sometimes the payment is in error.
But when I try it a few days later, it sometimes succeeds.
This app brings me roughly $50~60 per month.
If there are any other apps you recommend in Japan, please let me know.
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
You can check out this list of some great ways to earn some extra cash in Japan.
Very few of the find an item with a specific UPC item are correct so you waste your time going to different locations looking because the exact item is on the shelf but the code doesn’t match. Time after time. If the object is to see if databases are correct then the users should be reporting back the code that is on the item and update. I did enjoy the different tasks within the community to find such as rentals, new construction, statues etc. and surveys but those have been eliminated leaving only the unsatisfying financially UPC tasks. Why bother? With smaller venues such as Sally Beauty Supply you are extremely visible taking pictures because of the requirement that no other products can be visible plus you submit pics off all 6 sides, hang tags, ingredients, nutrition label, small print so you are easily seen by staff and customers. This has lead to staff telling me to leave and complains to higher management.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
It has been helpful to me
Happy to hear that.
This company Premise is a scam. This how they operate: First when you use the app everything works and as the days go by, they start rejecting your tasks completed for flimsy reasons. And cashing out is outrageous as they often don’t work but they will always say it is Paypal’s fault week in and week out. And when they thru skimming you they will ban your account and delete all your earned cash. How do I know? I was one of their victims! DO NOT USE THIS APP!!!
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Fully agree with you. I have also have the same experience. They is also a danger that you might con into taking pictures sensitive to your country and get yourself into trouble with your country law. They have no approval from any country to take pictures.
Premise is scam..they do not pay..i contacted their support and every time they say they have a payment problem and that lasted for a month..dont waste your time with this!
Sorry to hear that but thanks for sharing your experiences.
DO NOT USE THIS! THEY ARE A SCAM!! THEY ALOW YOU TO STACK UP YOUR MONEY AND THEN SUSPEND YOUR ACCOUNT WITHOUT WARNING AND KEEP YOU MONEY
Sorry to hear you had this experience. Did you use VPN or anything like that? And did you contact their support about this?
I came here to find out if app is legit or scam and nothing in here help me find that out.
Thanks for nothing , I guess…
I clearly explain in the review above whether it is legit or not and how it works, so if you just take the time to actually read the review, you will know exactly what to expect and if it is for you or not.
thank you. i just get paid?
great to hear. Thanks for sharing.
App is a scam. Refuses to pay out. Since January says there is a problem with every payout method
thanks for sharing your experiences about this. Have you been able to get in contact with their support about this issue?
I also experience the same problem.last year 2019 the minimum amount to withdraw is only 50PHP but today the minimum amount to withdraw is 750 php which is too high, and it always says they have a problem about withdrawal process.hope they can fix this issue because the platform itself is good and unique
sorry to hear that Jay. Thanks for sharing.
Hope they will fix it soon and let us know how it goes.
When you come close to the minimum payout which is Paypal you receive a message stating a problem with paypal & to cash out another way & your earnings go “reserved.” When you change platforms then ironically theres a payment issue with premise itself! If this is a legitimate app then this should not be taking place multiple times!
You are right that this should not be necessary. Dod you contact their support about this issue?
Support hives the same genetic response. This app is a scam.
