I looked at the Optimity app to see if it really is the most rewarding app for your fitness and health goals, as it claims. It is not: you earn gems you can only use to bid on gift cards, and the app is buggy. Below is what I found, and which apps I recommend instead.
Legit, but low rewards and only gift card bids
Earn gems for walking and quizzes, then bid on a few gift cards each month. Only in Canada, as far as I can tell.

The short answer
Optimity is legit: you can earn rewards from it. You earn gems when you reach your daily steps goal or pass a quiz in the app.
But you can only use your gems to bid on gift cards, and you do not know what your gems are worth. The rewards are low, the app is a bit buggy, and it is only available in Canada, as far as I can tell. It is far from the most rewarding app, as it claims to be.
- Offers a passive form of earning
- Easy sign-up with your email address
- Android and iOS
- The payout system isn’t very convenient
- Low rewards
- The app is a bit buggy
- Doesn’t offer cash rewards
- Only in Canada, as far as I can tell

Is Optimity legit and safe?
Yes, Optimity is legit, because you can earn rewards from it. But that does not mean it is worth using, or that its claims are true. Here is what you should know.
- You bid on gift cards
You cannot redeem your gems for a gift card or cash. You can only bid them on the gift cards in the rewards section, and there are only a limited number each month. You do not know the value of your gems, so you cannot get the most out of them.
- Low rewards
The app does not say how many gems you earn for a quiz or for reaching your steps goal. It takes quite a bit of time before you have enough gems to bid on gift cards.
- A buggy app
You will encounter a lot of errors while using it, and many users say the same. It took me a while before I could register.
- Only in Canada
The site and app do not say which countries they are available in, but from what I can see, Optimity is only available in Canada.
- Little information
The website has no FAQ section, and its “How it works” page does not work. You have to email support with your questions.
My takeIn my opinion, Optimity is not a bad app to earn rewards because it offers a passive form of earning. However, it’s also far from the most rewarding app out there as it claims to be. So, you should only use this app if you live in Canada and you are okay with the payout system it offers.
Optimity only lets you bid on gift cards. These sites pay you in cash or gift cards directly.

There is one earning option, which Optimity calls Steps and Quizzes.
Steps and quizzesGems
You earn gems when you pass a quiz in the app, or when you reach your daily steps goal. You set the goal yourself.
The app counts your steps as long as you carry your phone. It only uses your phone’s built-in sensors, so you cannot connect a fitness watch. That is a bit inconvenient when you go out for a run.
My impression while testing the app was that it is not as comprehensive and sophisticated as it appears on its website. Check out the best walk and earn apps instead.
How much can you make?
It is very hard to say. The website does not say how much you earn for quizzes or for your steps goal, and you cannot tell what your gems are worth.
One thing I am sure of: it takes quite a bit of time before you have enough gems to bid on gift cards. That is why I would consider its earning potential very low.
How you get paid
With most walk-and-earn apps, you redeem your rewards for gift cards or cash through PayPal. With Optimity, you can only bid your gems on the gift cards in the rewards section, and there are only a limited number of gift cards each month.
This system is frustrating, because you do not know the value of your gems. If you prefer an app with a convenient payout method, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.
