I checked out KnowledgePanel to see if it is worth your time. It is legit, but you can only join if it sends you an invitation code by mail. Below is what I found, and which survey sites I recommend instead.
Legit, but almost impossible to join
US only, by invitation code only. $1 per survey and a high $25 payout threshold.

The short answer
KnowledgePanel is a legit survey site that will pay you for completing its surveys. It is run by Ipsos, the market research company that also owns Ipsos i-Say, so you often see it called Ipsos KnowledgePanel.
But you can only join if KnowledgePanel sends you an invitation code by mail. It is only available in the US. Surveys are the only way to earn, each pays $1, and the payout threshold of $25 is quite high.
- Compensation is relatively good
- Any number of members of the household can join (with an invitation code)
- High chance to qualify for the surveys you get
- Some members without internet get a laptop or tablet with free internet
- App for Android and iOS
- Becoming a member of their panel is next to impossible
- High payout threshold
- Surveys are the only way to earn
- Not always a survey every week
- The site does not say clearly how you redeem your points

Is KnowledgePanel legit and safe?
Yes, KnowledgePanel is legit and pays for completing its surveys. But that it is legit does not mean it is worth joining for you. Here is what you should know.
- You cannot join without an invitation code
There is really no way to get an invitation code unless KnowledgePanel sends it to you by mail. It randomly selects a limited number of households to invite per year, so its results represent the US population. No need to try to actively get one.
- Reaching the payout threshold takes long
Each survey pays $1, and you need $25 to cash out. With one survey a week and the one-time $10 reward survey, you need at least 15 weeks.
- Not always a survey every week
KnowledgePanel says you get survey invitations every week. In my experience, there are times when you do not get any for one week, and sometimes even longer.
- Unclear redemption options
KnowledgePanel says you can redeem your points for cash or gift cards, but it does not say on its site how you withdraw your earnings.
My takeThere really isn’t much to say about KnowledgePanel, in my opinion. Its earning potential isn’t that great since there is only one way for you to earn. Plus, it has a high payout threshold. If you somehow manage to get an invitation code, it can be a decent secondary site to earn from since it allows more than one member per household to register.
No invitation code? These survey sites are easy to join, wherever you live.
See the top survey sites in your countryHow you earn on KnowledgePanel
There is 1 way to earn: paid surveys. Tap it to read more.
Paid surveys1,000 points ($1) each
You get an email when a survey is available. Click the link in the email to start. Usually, you first answer some qualifying questions to check that you belong to the group the survey targets. If you qualify, you answer the actual survey.
Surveys usually take around 10 to 15 minutes. Because of the way KnowledgePanel picks its members, your chances of qualifying are very high compared to many other survey sites. You get fewer surveys than on some other sites, but fewer frustrations about not qualifying.
How much can you make?
It depends on how often you get a survey. KnowledgePanel says you get survey invites every week, but there is no guarantee, and often it might only be 1-2 surveys per week.
Each survey pays $1. Say you get one survey a week and you answered the one-time $10 reward survey: you need at least 15 weeks to reach the $25 payout threshold.
So, all in all, the earning potential of KnowledgePanel isn’t really that good compared to the fastest paying survey sites.
Payout options and minimum
| Reward | Minimum | Point value |
|---|---|---|
| Cash | 25,000 points ($25) | 1,000 points = $1 |
| Gift cards | 25,000 points ($25) | 1,000 points = $1 |
You need at least 25 surveys before you can get your earnings out, which is quite a lot compared to the fastest paying survey sites. To redeem, log in through the “Already A Member” button on the KnowledgePanel homepage.
KnowledgePanel does not say on its site which payout methods you get. In my opinion, it would have been better if it clearly showed how you redeem your rewards.

Who checked KnowledgePanel for this review
If you have any comments, questions, or have any experiences with KnowledgePanel yourself, I would love to hear from you in a comment below.
I will pass, since they make no mention of how much of a profile they develop on you, which they may then sell to others and thus open you to needless sales pitches, or worse identity theft
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
I think I will pass on the invite. Thank you for the consideration.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
I have been a member of this panel for over 10 years & its legit. Only downfall is they issue crappy tablets that are slow & outdated. They do replace them with another old & scratched up one if you ask for it. Currently as of 2025 they issue old Samsung Galaxy A7 Lite 2021 models & they are not 5G so I recommend you use Wi-Fi with it.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
The only payout options I see are gift cards for specialty stores, none of which I use. No cash. No Amazon.

And one of sites that pay in Amazon gift cards here.
I joined knowledge panel about a year ago. I got $20 (as did every one of our household members) for joining. 1000 points per survey, and I did opt into the reality meter. Like stated above, HUGE drain on my battery but it’s super lucrative in my experience. It takes up ~1 hour of my time monthly, and to date, I’ve cashed out $396 in Amazon gift cards and have $36 available to cash out right now. This is totally separate from what my boyfriend and our other 3 household members have cashed out themselves. KP seems to be on the up and up to me.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
After you downloaded the RealityMeter on your device(s), how long did it take to receive the $10 or 10,000 point compensation for downloading onto (up to) two of your devices? I still haven’t received anything…
the 10 000 points is rewarded per device, you can install RM on 2 devices and the points are awarded to you first days of each month as long as RM is working properly on your devices.
I have tried to get my reward points and/or redeem them. NOBODY will get back to me. If I don’t NO ANSWER, I will be forced to OPT OUT!
Very sorry to hear that. But thanks for sharing your experiences so others can see.
How do you opt out after you have become a member?
You need to contact their support about this.
Linda, I have been considering joining this panel after receiving an invitation in the mail, and I too, wondered this. It was not addressed in the FAQs, so I scanned the Privacy Policy & the Terms & Conditions on their website, where you can find the answers, copied & pasted below. The Terms & Conditions portion is more specific in terms of how do go about opting out. Hope this helps!

I signed up for it and at first was very pleased with the experience, however I have gotten a little suspicious after an app called “team viewer” appeared on my tablet after an update. This app allows you to view the contents of the tablet in real time from any other device. A while later I have had the tablet stolen from me and the local police refuse to make a report, which seems super odd to me. And the customer service people won’t replace the tablet without a police report. However I can still access the website and surveys from my knowledge panel account on another device. But I’m starting to feel like something else is going on with the website and I don’t know if I should continue to participate in things anymore.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
So was the tablet that was issued to you from Knowledge Panel Ipsos?
If so I could understand why without a police report they have refused to provide another.
It would be nice to be certain.
the team viewer/quick support app is when you have trouble with your device and you call the suport team so they can conect to your device and fix it.
I received this offer in the mail about 6 weeks ago. Just like Carol, I kept the $2 that was enclosed. At the time I wondered how many of those crisp $1 bills ended up in the trash, because a lot of people just toss their junk mail without even opening it. My invite came with a $20 reward to every household member who joins and takes an introductory survey. This week I received a follow up letter. They even offer to provide a free tablet with internet access to use, for those without internet access. Yes, it does seem pretty desperate. I wanted to do some research though, which is why I found this review. I’ve done surveys in the past through Opinion Outpost and MySurvey. They always offered a lot of survey opportunities, but I spent a lot of time (5 – 10 minutes each) answering the qualifying questions, only to qualify for less than 10% of the surveys. I’d like to avoid that kind of situation. I wonder how easy it is to qualify for the surveys that they offer? I might just give it a try to find out. If $25 is the payout minimum, then I most likely would need to take 5 surveys before I could cash out with my $20 reward. That might be worth my time as I do enjoy giving my opinion;-)
Thanks for sharing. Let me know how it goes if you decide to use it.
So, I did sign up for it, and actually like it. I took the $20 payment for the initial survey as an Amazon gift card. Since then, I’ve been invited to take one survey about every 3 weeks. Two I qualified and got 1,000 points each. The third one I answered two questions and was disqualified as not fitting the needed “demographic”. Each time you try a survey you are entered into a monthly prize drawing. They may also invite you to add “Reality Meter” to your devices, which tracks your web browsing. It doesn’t “spy” on secure sites, like my banking, so I don’t really mind it. I had to take it off my phone, because it was a huge drain on the battery. I got 10,000 points for adding each device, and another 10,000 each month I keep it running. They even paid me for the one on my phone, even though I only kept it on for 2 weeks. So, it can be pretty lucrative, if you are willing to let them track your browsing.
Thanks for sharing your expreriences.
The site is a complete waste of time. I’ve done surveys and you never hear back from them. I have no idea how to really contact them. I can email I suppose and ask a question but a legit company would have a website where I’d be able to log in and see where I’m at. You are supposed to be able to check their website to see if you’ve won when they have a mixed payout. No website. Honestly, don’t bother Much, much better sites out there!!
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Not sure if my comment made it through. BBB Bureau gives them a D-
Feel free to Google or look at thier BBB rating and read reviews. Mike is the same story.
Your comment made it through. I just responded.
It is just not posted right away as I need to approve any comment first to avoid people posting spam in the comment section so that is why you could not see your comment right away.
I felt a “ check” in my spirit as I read th info & the fact they started with gluing 2 $1.00 bills to the letter. Looked like they were desperate or bribing me. The did mention the strting survey paid$10.00 but IT wasn’t included. Now I definitely felt it was a risky move joining or not worth my time as my health is not good. Keeping the $2.00 they put on the letter as compensation for my time!
Thanks for confirming my hunch !!
you are welcome. And thanks for sharing.
Biggest Scam Out There!
You won’t see any money!
Hi Mike,
Can you say a bit more about your experiences and what happened? Would be great for others to know a bit more.
Sure
I was told I would be paid 20 dollars for 2 different surveys. I wasn’t even on the survey list. They sent me a private email. I did both the surveys and shows completed in thier website. 6 weeks go by no checks. Called customer service and they said they would investigate. Never heard back. Turned them in to BBB and IRS. BBB gives them a D- rating and warns not to use them.
Thanks for sharing this.
Sorry to hear about your experience.
Did you get any responses for your complaint to BBB and IRS?
No BBB is still working on claim and IRS only takes info for fraud and doesn’t respond back. This seems to be the same for everybody. Hoping this helps other people so they don’t waste thier time,as I said ,” Look at the BBB rating on googling Knowledgepanel complaints”.
Hope this helps.
