Google Rewards App Review 2026: Is Google Opinion Rewards Worth It? My Tested Verdict

Google Rewards App Rating

Google Rewards App is easy to use, and if you want some extra credits for Google Play, it can be a nice way. You just need to know that you will not get a lot of surveys so it takes patience.

I downloaded the Google Rewards App, also called Google Opinion Rewards, and have used it over a long period. It is legit and easy, but you only get a few surveys. Below is what I found, how you can use your rewards, and which sites to join next to it.

Personally Tested Re-tested Oct 2026

Legit and easy, but only 1 to 2 surveys a week

Very short surveys that pay well for the time. Google Play credit or PayPal, but too few surveys to earn much.

Good for you ifYou want a little extra Google Play credit or PayPal cash for almost no effort, next to other survey sites.
Skip it ifYou want to earn more than a little on the side, or you want many surveys every day.

The short answer

The Google Rewards App (Google Opinion Rewards) is legit. It is made by the Google survey team, it is free, and the surveys are very short and pay pretty well in relation to the time spent.

But you only get 1 to 2 surveys a week, so you will not be able to make a lot. Your credits expire after 1 year, and PayPal is not available in all countries. It is a nice extra app, not a site to rely on.

What I like
  • Free to join, and Google is behind it
  • Easy to use
  • Pays out in cash, through PayPal in some countries
  • Very short surveys, sometimes less than 1 minute
What I don’t like
  • Not a lot of available surveys
  • Your earnings expire after 1 year
  • Does not offer PayPal rewards in all countries
  • The number of surveys varies a lot from week to week

My experience with Google Opinion Rewards

I downloaded the app and tested it myself over a long period. I use it because it is so easy and takes so little time. This is what I did, and what I did not test.

Is Google Opinion Rewards legit and safe?

Yes, Google Opinion Rewards is legit. Google is behind it, so it is a trustworthy way to take surveys. But there are limits you should know about.

  • Very few surveys

The app says you can expect 1 to 2 surveys per week, and that is also what I have seen. I have had days with a survey every day, and then long periods without any. You should not join it to make a living.

  • Your credits expire

Credits expire after 1 year. Use your credit or cash out within one year.

  • Location history for more surveys

You can turn on location history to qualify for more surveys about the places you visit. Whether you feel comfortable with that is up to you.

  • Answer the test survey properly

After setup you get a short, unpaid test survey. It checks if you pay attention, and that decides if you can do surveys in the future.

  • Surveys do not wait

You get a notification when a new survey is available. If you wait too long, it might no longer be available, so I recommend you allow the notifications.

My takeThe Google survey app is very easy to use, and the surveys are very short and pay pretty well for the time spent. But there are not very many weekly opportunities, so you will not be able to make a lot. As an extra app to get a few surveys once in a while, it can be nice. No matter what, I recommend you also join other sites next to it, as the app alone will really not give you a lot of options.

How you earn on Google Opinion Rewards

There are 2 ways to earn. Surveys are the main one. Tap one to read more.

Paid surveysUp to $1 each
Location history setting inside Google Opinion Rewards

The surveys take a few minutes at most, up to 5 minutes. In my experience, some take less than 1 minute. They are usually multiple choice, so they are easy to answer.

You get a notification when there is a new survey. I recommend you allow the notifications, or you risk missing out.

The number of surveys varies a lot. Turning on location history in the app can get you more surveys based on the places you have visited.

Receipt scanningA bonus, by invite

This is an opt-in feature in the Android app only. A limited number of users are invited. You need an activated Opinion Rewards account and location history turned on.

Once accepted, a Receipt tasks card shows up under My Tasks. Each task asks you to shop at a specific store, take a clear photo of the receipt and upload it. If it checks out, you get the reward. You can opt out of a task you do not want.

The amount varies and can change at any time. Treat it as a bonus, not your main source of earnings.

How much can you make?

The app says you can expect 1 to 2 surveys per week, and that is what I have seen myself. That is not a lot, so you should not join if you want to make a living from it.

The surveys you do get pay pretty well for the time. A survey pays up to $1, which is a very good reward for a few minutes. In my experience, you will not often get surveys that pay $1. Often they pay less, but then they also take less time.

If 1 to 2 surveys a week is too few, join the best survey sites next to it. They give you many daily opportunities, and often other ways to earn than surveys.

How you can use your rewards

RewardNotes
Google Play creditBuy apps, games, movies, music and more. The original reward, still available.
PayPalCash for the surveys you take. Not available in all countries.

Every time you do a survey, you get paid into your app account in your local currency. If you use the Google Play Store regularly, it is a good way to get free credit for it.

Credits expire after 1 year, so use them or cash out within one year. If you want more sites that pay in cash, see the best survey sites that pay through PayPal.

How do you get started?

Search for Google Opinion Rewards in Google Play or the App Store and download it. It works on Android and iOS. You need a Google account to set it up; you can make one for free.

Fill out your profile. It takes around 5 minutes, with questions like your age, income level, address, gender and the languages you speak. You can also turn on location history here to get more surveys.

Then you get a short test survey. You are not paid for it, but it checks if you pay attention, so answer it properly. After that, wait for a notification when a new survey is available.

Is Google Opinion Rewards worth it in your country?

  2. I have used a few of the survey sites in the past and I personally am not a big fan of them mainly because for me they usually don’t work or the points aren’t growing fast enough for me to dedicate my time to. I will say that I do like the way you described how the survey sites work and how others can try it for themselves.

    • Thanks for your comment Arie. How good the opportunities are on survey sites depends a lot on the country you live in. If you find the right survey sites for your country, there can be good opportunities to make a bit extra. And I am glad to hear you with the information on my website useful. I appreciate the feedback.

  3. Thank you for this information! I did not know about this app or the rewards. Too bad you only get 1 to 2 surveys per week. This sounds like a fun opportunity to make a little extra money, but you probably wouldn’t even get $4 a month.

Even though I do enjoy surveys, I don’t see this as a good use of my time, especially if the money doesn’t add up very fast each month. And I can’t get cash out from my rewards. I like having options for my rewards, not just one thing that the rewards can go to. If I used Google Play Store a lot, I could see how this opportunity would be worth doing, but that is not the case for me.

Thank you for providing this information!

    • Thanks for your comment Weston. The Google rewards app does definitely not add up very quickly. I just use it because it is so easy and takes so little time, and I do also use the play store.

But in general I also prefer survey sites that give me more options to pay out, and where it is possible to earn faster. But Google app is for me just a little extra thing on the side that can be fun to use and save a bit when using the playstore.

      All the best,
      Mikael
