Is EarnHoney Legit or a Scam? (Review + Tutorial)

EarnHoney Rating

EarnHoney is legit and you can earn some extra money on the platform. The usability and the opportunities are, however, very poor compared to other similar sites

EarnHoney claims you can earn 3 times as much as on other GPT and survey sites. I joined and tested every earning method to see if that is true. Below is what I found, and which sites I would pick first.

Personally Tested Last tested

Not a scam, but low rewards and very poor usability

Low $5 threshold and good payout methods. Few ways to earn, and its own comparison chart is not accurate.

Good for you ifYou live in the US, you want one more site, and you do not mind a confusing site for small rewards.
Skip it ifYou want a site that is easy to use and pays a decent amount for your time.

The short answer

EarnHoney is not a scam. It offers legit ways to earn and legit payout methods, with a low $5 payout threshold.

But the usability is one of the worst I have tried for a reward site, the rewards are low, and there are few ways to earn. Its claim that you earn 3 times more than on other sites does not fit my experience at all. In my opinion, it is not worth your time.

What I like
  • Free to join
  • Low payout threshold of $5
  • Good payout methods, including PayPal
What I don’t like
  • Poor usability
  • Low rewards
  • Not many earning opportunities
  • Its own comparison chart is not accurate

My experience with EarnHoney

I joined EarnHoney and tried every earning method it offers. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Is EarnHoney legit and safe?

EarnHoney is not a scam. It offers legit ways to earn and legit payout methods. But that does not make it worth your time. Here is what you should know before you join.

  • Its claims do not match what you get

Before you log in, EarnHoney tells you that you can earn 3 times more than on other reward sites. Its chart also makes it look like other sites take 2-3 weeks to pay. Many sites pay a lot faster. The chart also mentions a first-day gift card guarantee, but I could not find any terms or information about it anywhere on the site.

  • Very poor usability

My profile would not save, because it asked for a zip code without a field for it. Watching a video takes several steps through a partner’s Facebook page and another website, and I could not see the viewability circles that show whether a view counts.

  • Very low rewards

A video usually pays around 0.02 OPTin. 1 OPTin is worth $0.10, so you have to watch 50 videos to earn 10 cents.

  • Few opportunities outside the US

When you are logged in, a bar at the top says that international users have fewer opportunities than US residents. The only offer I got was to invite friends.

  • Social media and support look inactive

At the time of updating my review, its social media pages had not been updated for more than a year, and the support did not answer people who asked questions on its posts.

My takeI am not impressed with what EarnHoney has to offer compared to other GPT and survey sites. It is possible to earn some extra money, and it has a low payout threshold. But with the poor usability, the low rewards and the limited earning opportunities, it is just not worth the time, in my opinion. There are so many great GPT and survey sites, so there is no need to waste time on sites that do not offer enough.

How you earn on EarnHoney

There are 5 ways to earn. None of them impressed me. Tap one to read more.

Paid surveysHard to access
EarnHoney profile form for surveys

You have to fill out your profile to get access to the surveys. When I tried to save mine, I got an error that asked for my zip code, but there was no field to enter it.

From what other members report, some people had more luck and got surveys from the survey provider PeanutLabs. But you can find those surveys on many other survey sites too, so EarnHoney does not offer anything special here.

Watching videosAround 0.02 OPTin each
Video categories on EarnHoney

This is the biggest section on EarnHoney, with videos in many categories. But you go through several steps: pick a category, read the rules, go to a partner’s Facebook page, and then click through to another website to watch the video.

It is hard to see if the view is registered. EarnHoney says viewability circles turn red or green when it works. I tried several times and did not manage to see them. And with 50 videos for 10 cents, it is not worth the hassle.

Paid offersVery few
The only offer on EarnHoney: invite friends

On most GPT sites, the offer section has free trials, apps to download and contests. The only “offer” I got was to invite friends to join. It might be because of the country I live in.

Games (apps)Very low
Apps in the games section of EarnHoney

“Play games” in the side menu leads to a section with apps. I was offered 3 apps for very low rewards. Some show an amount you can earn per day, but you earn this in the app, not directly in your EarnHoney account. The apps seem to be part of the same network and earn you OPTins.

EarnHoney codesRare
EarnHoney codes field

These are free promo codes that EarnHoney says it posts on its social media. When I looked, no codes had been posted for a long time, so you have to be very patient.

The registration code field you see when you join is different: it is for a code from a friend who invites you. It does not give you extra rewards.

How much can you make?

Not much, in my opinion. In the presentation video on its website, EarnHoney says you can earn 3 times more than on other reward sites. I do not know where it gets this number from, and it does not fit my experience at all.

In my experience, the top-paying sites do not only give better rewards. They also give more earning opportunities and are easier to use. EarnHoney does neither. If you join, do not expect to earn too much.

Payout methods and minimum

MethodMinimumNotes
PayPal$5Cash to your PayPal account
Amazon gift cards$5Gift card
Prepaid Visa debit card$5Prepaid card
OPTins$5A form of cryptocurrency
Charity$5Donate your earnings

The payout methods are one of the best things about EarnHoney. But with so many great PayPal sites that also have low thresholds, they do not make it stand out. See the best sites that pay through PayPal.

EarnHoney’s chart says it pays within 2-3 business days. That is OK, but many sites pay faster. Superpay.me, for example, pays within a few hours after you request a payout.
