BetterPoints App Review – Legit or Scam? (An Inside Look)

BetterPoints Rating

BetterPoints is not a bad app. However, it just pales in comparison to other apps that offer the same type of earning opportunity because of its low earning potential.

I took an inside look at the BetterPoints app to see if its walking challenges are worth your time. It is legit, but there are few challenges, the points are low, and there is no cash. Below is what I found, and which apps I recommend instead.

Partially Tested Re-tested Oct 2026

Legit, but low rewards and no cash

Points for walking challenges. Gift cards from 2,000 points (£2) and store discounts, no cash. Only in certain countries.

Good for you ifYou live in the UK or another country where it works, and you want a little motivation to be more active.
Skip it ifYou want cash, rewards worth your time, or an app that tracks your walks through a fitness watch.

The short answer

BetterPoints is legit: you can really earn rewards from it. You earn points by completing challenges, usually a physical activity like walking a certain distance, and you exchange the points for gift cards and store discounts.

But there are not a lot of challenges, you only earn around 20 to 30 points per challenge, and it does not offer cash rewards. It is also only really available in the UK, some countries in Europe, New Zealand and certain countries in South America. Other walk-and-earn apps reward you better.

What I like
  • It can help motivate you to be physically active
  • The app is user-friendly, with no annoying pop-up ads
  • Android and iOS
  • Help section and a contact form in the app
What I don’t like
  • Doesn’t offer cash rewards
  • Limited earning opportunities: not a lot of challenges
  • Low rewards: around 20 to 30 points per challenge
  • You must carry your phone; no fitness watch tracking
  • Only available in certain countries

My experience with BetterPoints

I installed BetterPoints and looked at its challenges, the rewards and the support options. This is what I looked at myself, and what I did not test.

Is BetterPoints legit and safe?

Yes, BetterPoints is legit: you can really earn rewards from it. But that does not mean you should use it. Here is what you should know.

  • No cash rewards

You exchange your points for gift cards and store discounts only. If you want to earn cash, BetterPoints is not for you.

  • Low rewards and few challenges

You earn around 20 to 30 points per challenge, and there are not a lot of challenges. A £2 gift card needs 2,000 points, so you wait a long time for a reward.

  • You must carry your phone

The app runs in the background and tracks your location while you walk. You cannot connect a fitness watch, like you can with some other walk-and-earn apps.

  • Only in certain countries

You can sign up wherever you live, but BetterPoints is only really available in the UK, some countries in Europe, New Zealand and certain countries in South America.

My takeIn my opinion, BetterPoints is not a bad app. However, it just pales in comparison to other apps that offer the same type of earning opportunity because of its low earning potential. It also doesn’t offer cash rewards, so the reward options are quite limited.

BetterPoints pays little and no cash. These walk-and-earn apps reward you better.

How you earn on BetterPoints

There is one way to earn: completing challenges.

ChallengesAround 20 to 30 points
BetterPoints challenges

Go to the Challenges section of the app to see all the challenges. Usually, they ask you to complete a certain physical activity, like walking a certain distance.

To complete a challenge, take your phone with you and let the app run in the background. You also have to allow the app to track your location. After you complete a challenge, you claim the reward in points.

When I looked at it, there were not a lot of challenges you could do, so it is quite hard to earn a lot of points quickly. On the plus side, the challenges motivate you to be more physically active.

How much can you make?

It mostly depends on how many challenges you can complete. But there are not a lot of challenges, and you only earn around 20 to 30 points per challenge.

So the earning potential of BetterPoints is quite low. You have to wait a long time before you can earn enough points to redeem a reward.

Rewards and minimums

RewardMinimum
Store discounts100 points
Gift cards2,000 points for a £2 gift card

You exchange your points for gift cards and discounts for certain stores. The payment system is straightforward, but not very versatile. BetterPoints does not offer cash rewards. If you want to earn cash, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.

What readers told me

How the app tracks your activity1 comment

A new member could not see how the app knows what activity they are doing, and could not find the help option. If the app does not track your activity even though you allowed tracking, contact support.

  1. I’ve just signed up and downloaded this app. I can’t see how it knows what (eg) walking or other activities I am doing! Does it have an integral pedometer if I am out and about? How does it know if I’m on a bus (this is an earning opportunity on my local Oxfordshire group on Better Points)?
I can’t find a ‘help’ option on the app. I have allowed tracking.
